Moto G34 5G Review: Pros, Cons and Verdict

The Moto G34 5G is a reasonable budget phone if you want 5G, a large battery, expandable storage and smoother scrolling—and can accept a relatively low-resolution screen, modest performance under heavier workloads, slow charging and inconsistent camera results. Whether it is worth buying depends on its local price and exact regional variant, not the spec sheet alone.

What are the Moto G34 5G’s main strengths and weaknesses?

Strengths Trade-offs
  • 120 Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling and motion
  • 5G connectivity and Snapdragon 695 5G platform
  • 5000 mAh stated battery capacity; reviewers report strong day-long endurance
  • Expandable storage on specified regional models
  • HD+ resolution on the 6.5-inch display, rather than Full HD+
  • Occasional stutters or glitches with heavier use
  • Camera results weaken in low light; macro camera is soft and noisy
  • 18 W charging capability and slow charging in review assessments
  • Memory, storage and some features vary by market

Motorola lists a 6.5-inch, 120 Hz display. The refresh rate can make scrolling feel fluid, but it does not increase the panel’s HD+ resolution; readers who prioritize crisp text or video should weigh that compromise carefully. Motorola’s regional specifications describe the display and market-specific configurations.

Is the Moto G34 good for everyday use?

For routine tasks—messaging, browsing, streaming, navigation and social apps—the G34’s 5G-capable Snapdragon 695 platform is a plausible fit for a budget handset. It is less convincing if you regularly multitask heavily or expect demanding games to run smoothly. Tech Advisor and TechRadar both reported occasional performance issues or stutters, so treat it as an everyday phone rather than a performance-focused choice. Tech Advisor’s review and TechRadar’s review provide those hands-on observations.

5G can be useful where coverage and a suitable plan are available, particularly for buyers who want access to newer mobile networks without buying a premium phone. TechRadar’s reviewer considered 5G useful in some use cases even on a low-cost handset; it does not make the phone faster in every situation, nor does it replace checking local network support and coverage.

How good are the screen and cameras?

Display: smooth, but not especially sharp

The 120 Hz refresh rate is a genuine convenience for scrolling and supported animations. The HD+ resolution is the more important limitation for people who often watch video or read small text. A high refresh rate improves motion smoothness, not image detail.

Cameras: usable in good light, less dependable elsewhere

The rear-camera specifications include a 50 MP main camera and a 2 MP macro camera, but megapixel counts do not establish image quality. Tech Advisor found daylight shots usable and wrote, “Technical jargon aside, the Moto G34 5G can take nice pictures,” with the important qualification that results are better in decent light. Its review also noted camera glitches; TechRadar reported slow photo processing, and Stuff found the macro camera soft and noisy. Stuff’s review discusses the macro camera.

Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G | 2024 | Unlocked | Made for US 8/128GB | 50MP Camera | Caramel Latte
  • NEW built-in stylus. Jot notes, edit photos, sketch artwork, and navigate effortlessly with an improved stylus and updated software.

  • 30W TurboPower charging + over a day battery. Get hours of power in just minutes of charging, then work and play with unbelievable battery life**.
  • Standout design. Make a statement with its stunning look, modern color, and soft, vegan leather finish.

Choose the G34 for casual photos in favorable light, not because the 50 MP label guarantees consistent results. If night photography, dependable processing or close-up detail is a priority, compare sample images from the exact model and alternatives sold in your region.

How long does the battery last, and how quickly does it charge?

Motorola specifies a 5000 mAh battery and 18 W charging capability in its launch information. Battery capacity is not a runtime guarantee, but Tech Advisor reported a PCMark battery-test result of 12 hours 42 minutes with screen brightness set to 200 nits. That is one publication’s test under its stated conditions, not a promise of equivalent real-world use. The review characterized day-long endurance as a strength. Motorola’s launch announcement gives the capacity and charging figure.

Moto G Power 5G | 2024 | Unlocked | Made for US 8/128GB | 50MP Camera | Midnight Blue
  • 6.7" FHD+ 120Hz display* and Dolby Atmos**. Upgrade your entertainment with an incredibly sharp, fluid display backed by multidimensional stereo sound.
  • 50MP camera system with OIS. Capture sharper low-light photos with an unshakable camera system featuring Optical Image Stabilization.*****
  • Unbelievable battery life and fast recharging. Work and play nonstop with a long-lasting 5000mAh battery, then fuel up with 30W TurboPower charging.***
  • Superfast 5G performance. Make the most of 5G speed with the MediaTek Dimensity 7020, an octa-core processor with frequencies up to 2.2GHz.******
  • Tons of built-in ultrafast storage. Enjoy plenty of room for photos, movies, songs, and apps—and add up to 1TB with a microSD card.

Charging is a clearer compromise: 18 W is the stated capability, and TechRadar lists slow charging as a drawback. If you often need to top up quickly, charging speed may matter more than the large battery.

Which Moto G34 configuration should you check?

Motorola’s specifications differ by market, so confirm the precise SKU offered by the retailer or carrier rather than assuming every G34 has the same memory or features. For example, one regional Motorola listing specifies Android 14, 4 GB RAM and 128 GB storage, with microSD expansion up to 1 TB; another lists 8 GB physical RAM plus virtual RAM and 256 GB storage. These are region-specific configurations, not universal specifications.

  • Check the listed physical RAM and built-in storage; virtual RAM is not the same as additional physical memory.
  • Confirm microSD support and the stated expansion limit for the specific model.
  • Verify NFC, headphone jack and network-band details locally. Tech Advisor reported a 3.5 mm jack on its reviewed handset, but that should not be assumed for every regional variant.
  • Check that the model supports your carrier’s bands and 5G service.

See Motorola’s regional specifications for examples of the variation. The actual listing for your country should guide the purchase.

What is the Moto G34’s software support outlook?

Motorola’s Australia support page currently lists the Android 16 rollout as beginning February 25, 2026, Android 17 as the next OS, and security updates through September 2030. Motorola cautions that schedules can vary by channel and region, so this is an Australia-specific listing rather than a guaranteed schedule for every G34 worldwide. Check Motorola Support Australia’s device page for the current regional status.

Is the Moto G34 worth buying?

Consider it when the local price is attractive, the exact variant has enough RAM and storage for your needs, and your priorities are 5G, battery capacity, storage expansion and smooth scrolling. Look elsewhere if a sharper display, reliable low-light photography, faster charging or stronger performance matters more. Compare locally available alternatives on those specific points and on their software-support schedules; the G34’s value cannot be judged without the price and configuration in your market.
