Start by finding what is draining the battery
On the 2026 moto g stylus, open Settings > Battery > Battery usage to inspect apps and features consuming power since the last full charge. Motorola says this view can cover the last 24 hours or 14 days. Use the list to identify unusually high usage rather than applying background limits to every app. The available periods and labels may differ on other generations. Make everyday battery-saving changes
Motorola recommends several adjustments that reduce screen or radio use. Make the changes that suit how you use the phone:
- Lower screen brightness: Use a dimmer level that remains comfortable to read.
- Shorten screen timeout: Choose a shorter interval before the display turns off when idle.
- Enable Dark theme: Motorola includes this among its battery-saving suggestions.
- Turn off Bluetooth and GPS when not needed: Re-enable them when you need connected devices or location features.
- Use Wi-Fi where coverage is available: Motorola recommends Wi-Fi when you are in a location with coverage.
- Avoid power-intensive use when conserving charge: Video recording or playback, music, photography, and live animated wallpaper are among the activities Motorola advises avoiding.
These steps are practical ways to reduce consumption, not a guarantee of a particular battery-life increase; Motorola does not provide a quantified improvement for them.

Set background app access selectively
On the 2026 model, go to Settings > Battery > Manage background apps. Motorola recommends leaving this management enabled and keeping apps you are unsure about, or that are not time-sensitive, on Smart use. Keep Adaptive Battery enabled as well; it reduces activity from apps you use infrequently.
Choose background access according to whether an app needs to work while you are not using it:

Restrict low-priority apps rather than essential ones: a battery saving is not worth missing a message, safety alert, or timely navigation update. Motorola’s exact setting names and behavior are documented for the 2026 model in its battery instructions.

You can also turn off automatic account sync if you accept that some information, notifications, or updates will not refresh automatically. That is a trade-off, not a setting to disable indiscriminately.

Review which apps recently accessed private data
The Moto G Stylus (2025) guide places the Privacy dashboard and Permission manager at Settings > Security & privacy > Privacy. The dashboard shows a timeline of recent Location, Camera, or Microphone access. Select a permission to inspect its controls. In Permission manager, choose an app and change the permissions it can use.
Before denying a permission, consider what the app does: turning access off can prevent features from working correctly. Motorola documents these paths in the Moto G Stylus (2025) User Guide. Earlier generations may have similar controls, but their menus can differ; the Android 13 guide for the 2023 Moto G Stylus also documents privacy and permission settings.

Block camera or microphone access
Use a global switch for a temporary block
On the 2025 guide’s software, open Settings > Security & privacy > Privacy controls, then switch off Camera access or Microphone access. This is a broad control: apps that need the blocked sensor may not work as expected until you turn access back on.

Change access for one app
To avoid blocking every app, use Settings > Security & privacy > Privacy > Permission manager, select Camera or Microphone, and adjust the relevant app’s permission. The 2025 PDF guide also describes using the privacy indicator to identify an app accessing a sensor and change that app’s access. Motorola notes a specific emergency exception: microphone data may still be shared when calling an emergency number even if microphone access is off.
Limit precise location without losing every location feature
For the 2025 Moto G Stylus, go to Settings > Security & privacy > Privacy controls > Location access. From there, review recent access and change each app’s permission. Depending on what the app needs, you can allow access only while using it, ask each time, deny access, or turn off Use precise location so it receives approximate rather than pinpoint location.
Use precise location for features that genuinely depend on it, such as turn-by-turn navigation; consider approximate location or a narrower permission for apps that do not need an exact position.
