Comfortable all-day headphones are a matter of fit, not a universal ranking. Third-party reviews identify the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen), Sony WH-1000XM6 and Sony WH-CH730N as promising over-ear options, but the available evidence does not establish five models tested by Freedom251. Here’s what the reviews support—and what to check before choosing a pair.
Which headphones have credible comfort evidence?
These are candidates supported by named reviews, not a five-model in-house test ranking. Comfort depends on your head and ear shape, whether you wear glasses, how warm your ears get, and how securely you prefer headphones to fit.

Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen)
SoundGuys names this model its most comfortable choice for long flights, while TechRadar describes the padding and clamp force as comfortable over hours of wear. TechRadar reports a weight of 250 g in its review. Those are third-party assessments, not a guarantee that the fit will suit every wearer. See the SoundGuys roundup and TechRadar review.

SoundGuys presents the WH-1000XM6 as a balance of comfort and noise cancellation. In its cited comparison, RTINGS ranks it behind Bose for comfort. SoundGuys also flags its thinner ear pads as a possible concern when comparing it with the Sennheiser MOMENTUM 4 Wireless. The difference may matter if you prefer deeper or more generously cushioned pads; it does not establish that the Sony will be uncomfortable for you. #1 Best Overall
- Block the World, Keep the Music: Four built-in mics work together to filter out background noise — whether you're in a packed office, on a crowded commute, or moving through a busy street — so every beat comes through clean and clear. (Not available in AUX-in mode.)
- Two Ways to Hear More: BassUp technology delivers deep, punchy bass and crisp highs in wireless mode — then step it up further by plugging in the included AUX cable to unlock Hi‑Res certified audio for studio-level clarity.
- 40 Hours. 5-Minute Top-Up: With ANC on, a single charge keeps you listening through days of commutes and long-haul flights. Running low? Just 5 minutes plugged in gives you 4 more hours — so you're never stuck waiting.
- Two Devices, Zero Hassle: Stay connected to your laptop and phone at the same time. Audio switches automatically to whichever device needs you — so a call never interrupts your flow, and getting back to your playlist is just as easy. Designed for commuters and remote workers who move smoothly between work and personal listening throughout the day.
- Your Sound, Your Rules: The soundcore app puts everything at your fingertips — dials your ideal EQ with presets or build your own, flip between ANC, Normal, and Transparency modes on the fly, or wind down with built-in white noise. One app, total control.
Sony WH-CH730N
What Hi-Fi reports a weight of 207 g and says the padded cushions and headband make this model less of a burden over extended wear. That makes it a lighter, less premium candidate to consider, rather than a proven best choice for every long listening session. See the What Hi-Fi review.
Sennheiser MOMENTUM 4 Wireless
This is a useful comparison option when evaluating the Sony WH-1000XM6, particularly if ear-pad depth and cushioning are important to you. SoundGuys’ standardized 2025 test measured 56 hours 21 minutes of ANC playback for the MOMENTUM 4 Wireless. Battery life is an endurance measure, not evidence that the headphones are comfortable. SoundGuys measured 37 hours 14 minutes of ANC playback for the Sony WH-1000XM6 in the same comparison; those figures describe its test conditions, not a comfort result. Read the comparison and test context.

How to judge all-day comfort before you buy
A brief try-on can reveal obvious pressure points, but longer wear may expose issues that are not apparent at first. Use these fit factors to assess headphones in person or during a return period:
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- Weight: A lighter pair may put less load on your head, but weight alone does not determine comfort. Headband shape and padding affect how that weight is distributed.
- Clamp force: A tight fit may feel secure but create pressure around the temples or jaw. Glasses can make that pressure more noticeable.
- Ear-pad shape and depth: Check whether your ears touch the inside of the cups and whether the pads press against the outer ear. The WH-1000XM6’s comparatively thinner pads are a consideration if you prefer more cushioning.
- Heat and breathability: Closed over-ear cups can become warm during long sessions. If heat bothers you, pay attention to how enclosed the cups feel and whether you can take breaks.
- Stability: A comfortable fit should stay in place for your usual activity without needing a strong clamp. Try the movements you expect during work or travel.
If possible, wear the headphones long enough to notice whether pressure builds, adjust the headband and cups, and check the fit with your usual glasses. Confirm the seller’s return terms before purchase so you can evaluate comfort beyond a quick showroom try-on.

Balance comfort against how you will use them
Comfort is only one part of an all-day choice. For travel, noise cancellation and battery endurance may matter alongside fit; for work, consider whether the headphones remain comfortable during long calls and whether their controls suit your routine. Compare portability and sound preference as well, using reviews that address those features rather than assuming a comfortable fit makes a model the best overall choice.
Prices and availability can change by country and retailer. For context, TechRadar reported a UK launch price of £449 for the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen) in September 2025; that is historical launch pricing, not a current offer.

Why this is not a five-headphone test ranking
The reviews cited here support several candidates, but they do not establish which five headphones Freedom251 tested or what its testing protocol was. Without those records, presenting five models as “we tested” would overstate the evidence. Treat the options above as review-backed starting points, and choose based on your own fit and priorities.
