For the current version 7.3.0 roster, the strongest practical picks depend on rarity, fusion, team and mode—not just a tier label. Among high-end Diamonds, current lists repeatedly favor fighters such as Homelander, MK11 Frost and Darkest Knight Noob Saibot. Standout Golds include Klassic Scorpion, Kombat Cup Johnny Cage, Klassic Shang Tsung, Klassic Smoke and Covert Ops Cassie Cage. These are editorial judgments, not official game ratings, and a well-fused Gold can be a better investment than a low-fusion Diamond.
This guide uses the broadest current rarity-by-rarity list available, Pocket Gamer’s September 2, 2026 update for version 7.3.0, and cross-checks its recommendations against other independent lists. The game’s official listing describes a roster of more than 150 fighters, so the lists below are a practical reference rather than a claim that every card has equal value in every account or matchup.

How to read this tier list
The rankings below reflect a fighter’s potential with strong gear and investment, not what a new account should automatically pursue. Pocket Gamer says its placements consider fighters at their best when fully geared; other independent rankings weigh ability, versatility, team utility and performance across modes. None is an official ranking from the game’s publisher, and the sources do not establish a controlled win-rate comparison.

- Designed with Ultra Articulation with up to 22 moving parts for full range of posing
- Includes Kunai and base
- Figure is showcased in Mortal Kombat Klassic themed window box packaging

- Mode coverage: usefulness in Towers, Krypt, Survivor, Realm Klash, Faction Wars and general progression. Mode rules and modifiers can shift a fighter’s value.
- Account investment: rarity, fusion, Ascension stage and access to equipment. MK Souls notes that a Fusion X Gold can outperform a low-Fusion Diamond.
- Fight contribution: dependable damage, control, power management, survivability or sustain, and benefits for teammates.
- Dependencies: whether the fighter needs a particular team, modifier or high-end equipment to reach the potential implied by its tier.
MK Mobile Base’s September 2026 methodology specifically cautions that fusion, team composition and fight modifiers can change which choice works best for an individual account. The lists are most useful when comparing fighters at a similar level of investment.
Diamond tier list
Diamond placements vary substantially between sources because a character can be exceptional in one team or mode without being a universal best. The following is Pocket Gamer’s version 7.3.0 list, updated September 2, 2026.

Gold tier list
Golds deserve their own comparison: fusion and team fit can make them more valuable to a developing account than an uninvested Diamond. The tiers here follow Pocket Gamer’s September 2, 2026 list.

Rank #3
- Incredibly detailed 7” scale figure based off the Mortal Kombat Franchise
- Designed with Ultra Articulation with up to 22 moving parts for full range of posing
- Liu Kang is featured in his Fighting Abbot Skin as seen in the video game Mortal Kombat 11
- Includes nunchaku, an alternate set of hands and a base
- Showcased in Mortal Kombat themed window box packaging
There is some disagreement even among the independent lists about where individual Golds belong: MK Mobile Base, for example, includes Klassic Shang Tsung, Klassic Smoke, Lizard Baraka, Lizard Jade and Kombat Cup Sonya Blade among its S-tier examples. Those differences reflect methodology and account context, not an in-game distinction.
Silver and Bronze fighters
Pocket Gamer treats Silver fighters as situational rather than a priority over stronger rarities. Its Silver list has no S-tier entries.
Silver A tier
Standard Cassie Cage; Standard Johnny Cage; Klassic Kitana; Standard Reptile; Standard Scorpion; Standard Sub-Zero.

Pocket Gamer does not assign Bronze cards a tier ladder, judging the group too small for a useful comparison. It names Johnny Cage, Lin Kuei, Monk, Oni, Osh-Tekk, Saurian, Sergeant, Shirai Ryu and Trooper as Bronze cards.

What version 7.3 adds to the rankings
Warner Bros. Games’ official Update 7.3 notes describe two new Diamonds and team effects that can matter as much as an individual’s damage. The update arrived July 22, 2026, with MK1 Sub-Zero’s full release scheduled during the Season of Ice. Their kit descriptions are important context, but do not by themselves establish a universal tier placement.
MK II Movie Scorpion
This Diamond Martial Artist/Netherrealm fighter uses a Bunseki system that increases elemental damage taken and reduces enemy Special Attack damage. His counterattack gains effects as Bunseki stacks. The patch notes also describe reduced Ice damage and tag-in Shield for MK II Movie teammates, plus Fire DOT immunity for Martial Artist and Netherrealm teammates while Scorpion remains alive.
MK1 Sub-Zero
This Diamond Martial Artist builds a Bloodchill meter that leads to Blizzard mode. Blizzard increases power generation and damage, and gives him healing through vampiric Specials. Team effects include Freeze immunity, reduced Fire damage taken and Frostbite immunity for MK1 teammates.
Other update changes that affect value
Update 7.3 expanded Ascension eligibility, including Elder God Kenshi, Edenian Blood Kitana, Onslaught Jax and Tigrar Fury Goro at Stage I. At Stage II max Ascension, eligible characters gain a fourth Equipment slot and Friendship access with the appropriate Equipment sets; the first listed group includes Hanzo Hasashi Scorpion, Klassic Shang Tsung and Klassic Sub-Zero. The update also added Battle Modifiers to Klash Towers and changed floor rewards and progression. These systems can change how much a fighter’s placement means for a particular account or event.
Choosing who to invest in
A high tier is a reason to consider a fighter, not an instruction to spend resources immediately. Use the ranking against your roster’s actual bottleneck and the content you play.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →- Start with the mode you need to clear. A fighter’s control or team support may matter more than raw damage in a Tower floor or a modifier-heavy fight; a broad-use character may be more valuable for general progression.
- Compare like with like. Look at fighters at similar fusion and gear levels. A highly fused Gold with a useful passive and team role may outperform a low-fusion Diamond in practical play.
- Check team effects and dependencies. Ask whether the character needs specific teammates, whether its passive helps the whole team, and whether your equipment can support the role.
- Account for Ascension and equipment access. Update 7.3’s Ascension changes can add options for eligible characters, so the card’s current development path may matter more than its tier label alone.
- Revisit after major updates. New fighters, balance changes, modes and modifiers can alter relative value. This list reflects version 7.3.0 and should not be treated as permanent.
For a quick shortlist across current sources, consider leading Diamonds such as Homelander, MK11 Frost, Darkest Knight Noob Saibot and several MK1 fighters, alongside Gold options such as Klassic Scorpion, Kombat Cup Johnny Cage, Klassic Shang Tsung, Klassic Smoke and Covert Ops Cassie Cage. Your best choice is the one that fits your fusion, team, available equipment and next game mode—not necessarily the highest rarity.
