CHOICE lists a two-year warranty; confirm warranty terms and regional coverage with the seller or manufacturer before buying a used or remaining-stock unit. CHOICE’s 48705 listing does not display a publication year for these specifications.
Does its searing feature suit your routine?
The main practical distinction is the bowl’s stove-top searing capability. It may reduce washing up and transfers if you like to brown food before slow cooking and the bowl works with your cooking setup. The available 48705 listing does not name compatible hob types or provide detailed operating instructions, so check the model’s own manual before using the bowl on a particular hob. Do not assume that specifications for another Sear & Stew model apply here.

At 6.5 L, the claimed capacity may suit larger batches or households that want leftovers, but capacity alone does not establish a recommended serving count. Consider the oval shape against the size of the dishes and ingredients you typically cook, and check the actual bowl dimensions if that fit matters.

CHOICE lists categories for low- and high-setting cooking performance, ease of use and end-of-cooking temperature. The detailed scores are member-only in the accessible listing, so there is no basis here to claim that the 48705 performed well or poorly in those tests. The price shown on CHOICE’s page is $80, but the listing does not establish when that price applied. It should not be treated as a current price or a reliable guide to what a seller charges today.
Is the 48705 still available?
CHOICE marks the model discontinued. That is a warning that ordinary new-stock availability may be limited, not proof that every seller has stopped offering it. Check the exact model number, 48705, when evaluating a listing; a similarly named Morphy Richards cooker may have different capacity or specifications. The Argos Support page identifies a manual for the 48705, but its accessible information does not substantiate detailed cooking, cleaning or safety directions.

How it differs from nearby Sear & Stew models
Model numbers matter. Morphy Richards’ current UK page describes a separate 3.5 L Sear & Stew cooker, SKU 460012, and says that model’s sear function cannot be used on an induction hob. Those details are specific to SKU 460012 and should not be carried over to the 48705. The manufacturer’s visible instruction-manual index includes other Sear & Stew model numbers, but a visible list that omits 48705 does not establish that no manual exists elsewhere.
Before choosing a replacement or another listing, compare the exact model’s capacity, searing method and hob compatibility, bowl material and dishwasher suitability, controls, dimensions, weight, warranty and any independently published test results. Do not treat a family name as evidence that these details match.
