Strive Asset Management was the most aggressive buyer in the specific October 5–9, 2026 comparison, purchasing about 13 times as much Bitcoin by dollar value as Michael Saylor’s Strategy. That weekly lead did not make Strive the largest corporate Bitcoin holder: Strategy’s reported treasury remained vastly larger.
Strive led the week’s Bitcoin-buying race
Decrypt’s 2026 market snapshot says Strive bought 3,311 BTC for approximately $280 million between October 5 and 9, 2026. The reported average acquisition price was about $84,500 per bitcoin, including the fees and expenses attributed to that period. The purchase brought Strive’s reported treasury total to 32,773 BTC, according to Decrypt and a 2026 SEC filing.

Strategy bought 250 BTC for approximately $21.5 million during the same window. On the dollar measure, Strive’s purchase was roughly 13 times larger. That is a comparison of buying activity over five days, not a claim that Strive overtook Strategy’s overall holdings.

Weekly buyer versus cumulative holder
The distinction matters because a large one-time purchase can change the ranking of active buyers without changing the ranking of treasury size.
| Measure | Strive Asset Management | Strategy |
|---|---|---|
| Bitcoin bought October 5–9, 2026 | 3,311 BTC — Decrypt, 2026 | 250 BTC — Decrypt, 2026 |
| Value of that purchase | Approximately $280 million — Decrypt, 2026 | Approximately $21.5 million — Decrypt, 2026 |
| Average acquisition price for the period | Approximately $84,500 per BTC, including reported fees and expenses — Decrypt, 2026 | Not stated in the cited snapshot — Decrypt, 2026 |
| Reported cumulative Bitcoin treasury | 32,773 BTC — Strive/SEC filing, 2026 | 848,250 BTC — Decrypt, 2026 |
| Financing information relevant to this comparison | Proposed SATS preferred-stock offering with a stated 15.00% cumulative annual dividend — Strive and SEC, 2026 | Funding instrument and cost of capital were not stated in the cited materials |
| Whether announced financing had closed | The SATS transaction was proposed and subject to conditions; closing was not established | Not stated in the cited materials |
On the figures above, Strategy’s 848,250 BTC was more than 25 times Strive’s 32,773 BTC treasury in the article’s snapshot. Holdings, prices and market rankings can change quickly, so these are dated figures rather than permanent league-table positions.

What Strive’s proposed SATS financing is
Perpetual preferred shares
Strive announced a proposed SATS offering consisting of 5,000,000 perpetual preferred shares at a $100 stated amount. The shares carry a 15.00% cumulative annual dividend. The stated terms say dividends are payable on business days when declared. “Cumulative” means an unpaid declared amount is not simply erased; it accumulates under the security’s terms.

If all 5 million shares were issued at that amount, the arithmetic annual dividend would be $75 million. That calculation assumes the entire proposed issue is sold and the stated rate applies; it is not evidence that the offering closed or that every share was issued.

Possible use of proceeds
Strive said proceeds may be used for bitcoin acquisitions. The wording describes an intended use, not proof that money had already been raised or deployed. The press release describes an intended SATS IPO, and the SEC material confirms the terms shown in the filing. Neither source, by itself, establishes that all proposed shares were sold.
Why a 15% dividend is a financing cost
The headline yield is not free capital for buying Bitcoin. A cumulative preferred dividend is a senior obligation in the capital structure, ranking ahead of common equity for its contractual distributions. The company must manage that obligation alongside Bitcoin-price volatility, operating expenses and any other debt or preferred claims. If the offering were fully issued at the stated amount, the potential $75 million annual dividend burden would be a recurring cash requirement before considering changes in Bitcoin’s price.

That structure can allow a company to raise capital without immediately issuing common shares, but it also makes the cost of capital explicit. The relevant question is not only how many coins Strive can purchase, but whether future Bitcoin returns and liquidity can support the preferred obligation through a weaker market.

Did Strive overtake Michael Saylor’s Strategy?
No—not on total Bitcoin owned in the cited snapshot. Strive overtook Strategy only in the narrow measure of Bitcoin purchased during October 5–9. Strategy’s reported 848,250 BTC remained far above Strive’s 32,773 BTC.

The answer can change depending on the time window. A weekly flow ranking favors the company that bought the most during that period; a treasury ranking favors the company with the largest accumulated balance. Mixing those measures creates the misleading impression that Strive replaced Strategy as the dominant corporate holder.
What investors should watch next
- SATS closing documents: A subsequent filing would be needed to establish how many shares were sold, the cash actually raised and whether proceeds reached Strive’s treasury.
- Dividend obligations: Investors should compare the 15.00% cumulative rate and its senior status with available cash, future financing and the company’s ability to meet declared distributions.
- Additional Bitcoin purchases: Strive’s weekly lead becomes a durable trend only if later disclosures show continued buying rather than a single large transaction.
- Updated treasury totals: Bitcoin balances and market-based rankings can move after each purchase, sale or corporate filing.
- Market context: Bitcoin prices, preferred-stock prices, ETF flows and market-value-to-net-asset-value measures can change rapidly; the Decrypt item is labeled NewsOpinion and should be treated as a dated market snapshot.
The clearest conclusion from the October 5–9 data is therefore limited but significant: Strive was the period’s top buyer by a wide margin, while Strategy remained the much larger Bitcoin treasury. Strive’s proposed SATS financing could support more purchases, but its 15% cumulative preferred dividend adds a substantial senior cost that must be assessed alongside any growth in the coin balance.
