That is a report of early modding activity—not an official Nexus Mods total or a verified count of mods confirmed to work on every platform.
What the 450-plus figure actually means
Fenlon’s October 1 report describes more than 450 mods that were either newly released or updated after the September 29 PC launch. The figure is his tally of activity reported around Nexus Mods, not a published platform statistic. The report does not give a reproducible counting method or audit each mod for compatibility, so “450-plus updated to support Remastered” should not be read as 450 independently verified, fully compatible mods.
The timing matters: this was a snapshot from roughly the first two days after launch. It shows a fast response from the PC modding community, but it does not establish how many mods will remain compatible as the game receives later updates.

Fenlon’s article names examples across several parts of the game, including:

These are examples, not a complete catalog or a compatibility guarantee. Check each mod’s own page for its stated game version, installation method, dependencies, and recent user reports before installing it.
PC mods and the Remastered cross-platform menu are not the same thing
CD PROJEKT RED describes The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered as an upgraded version and lists PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 as platforms. The 450-plus figure concerns PC mod releases and updates; it does not establish an equivalent count for consoles or prove that PC mods can be installed on them.

In a September 2026 Nexus Mods discussion, Community Champion LewisElementary explained that Remastered’s new “mods” menu is for cross-platform mods downloaded through Mod.io. That menu is distinct from using Nexus Mods files on PC, and the available options can differ by source.

LewisElementary’s guidance in that thread was that Nexus and Mod.io mods can be combined, but not merged; Mod.io mods may overwrite some Nexus files. The champion also noted a limitation around settings for Mod.io mods, while updated Nexus mods can retain settings in Remastered. Treat this as community guidance from a specific September 2026 thread, not a permanent compatibility guarantee.

If you use both sources, check the instructions for each mod and be alert to overlapping files or conflicting changes. Combining sources does not mean their contents are automatically reconciled, and an overwrite can affect what you see in game.

What to check before installing
- Confirm the source and platform. Make sure the mod is intended for the PC version and identify whether it is distributed through Nexus Mods or the in-game Mod.io menu.
- Read the mod’s current notes. Look for the author’s Remastered or game-version compatibility statement, required dependencies, installation steps, and known conflicts.
- Be cautious with mixed sources. When combining Nexus and Mod.io mods, account for the possibility that Mod.io files overwrite Nexus files; do not assume settings or files merge.
- Test changes in manageable batches. If something stops working after installation, disable the most recent additions first and follow the mod author’s removal or recovery instructions.
