For PC electricity alone, a useful 30-day estimate is about ₹605–₹1,152 if the second-hand desktop averages 120–200 watts at the wall and your marginal electricity rate is ₹7–₹8 per kWh. Those are scenario assumptions, not a measured average for used PCs or a tariff that applies across India. Your actual cost depends on the computer’s measured draw and your household’s bill.
How the monthly electricity estimate is calculated
A 30-day month has 720 hours. Multiply the PC’s average power in kilowatts by 720, then multiply the resulting kilowatt-hours by your marginal rate per kWh.

Rounded to whole rupees, the scenario range is approximately ₹605–₹1,152 for 30 days. Why your Indian electricity bill may differ
India does not have one household electricity rate to apply to every home. Retail tariffs are set by state electricity regulatory commissions, and state governments may subsidize some domestic consumers. Your utility, consumer category, slab position, subsidies, duties, and any time-of-day tariff can affect the incremental cost. For a personal estimate, use the marginal energy rate that applies to additional consumption on your current bill, rather than choosing a national average. A slab-based bill or additional billing components may mean the eventual bill change is not exactly the result of a simple rate multiplication.
Measure the computer instead of guessing
- Measure the complete PC at the wall. A plug-in electricity meter can show consumption for the whole computer under its intended streaming load. The power-supply label is not a measurement of what the PC continuously draws.
- Use average watts, not a brief peak. Let the machine run as it would during the stream, then use its average draw in the calculation. For example, average watts ÷ 1,000 × 720 gives monthly kWh for a 30-day month.
- Apply your household’s marginal ₹/kWh rate. Multiply monthly kWh by the applicable incremental rate from your bill or utility tariff. If your consumption crosses into a higher slab, account for that change.
Because the title does not specify a PC model, measured wattage, state, or utility, an exact bill for a particular setup cannot be established from the scenario alone.

What the PC-only figure leaves out
The ₹605–₹1,152 scenario is an estimate for desktop electricity alone. It excludes the monitor, router, UPS conversion losses, broadband, fixed charges, duties, repairs, replacement parts, outages, and equipment wear. For a realistic operating budget, measure or price those separately; do not treat the PC electricity range as the full cost of maintaining a 24/7 stream.

Keeping the stream online also depends on your connection
A PC can remain powered while a weak or interrupted upload causes stream problems. YouTube advises choosing stream quality to suit connection reliability, checking upload speed, testing before going live, and monitoring stream health. Its recommended H.264 bitrates include 4 Mbps for 480p at 30 fps, 8 Mbps for 720p at 30 fps, and 14 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps. These are platform recommendations for the specified encoder settings, not guarantees that a particular connection will sustain them.
