The examples below use an assumed electricity price of $0.15 per kWh. They are arithmetic scenarios, not measurements or Lenovo specifications for a ThinkCentre Tiny.

For a different electricity rate, use the same energy figure and multiply it by the rate that applies to the additional electricity you consume. If your tariff changes by time of day, calculate each period separately. These amounts cover the PC alone—not internet service, a monitor, camera, lighting, audio equipment, backup power, or other connected devices.
Measure the actual computer instead of guessing
- Identify the machine. Record the Tiny’s exact model, generation, processor, and configuration. Do not infer the computer’s consumption from another product’s specification or from the power adapter’s maximum rating.
- Measure wall draw under the intended workload. Run the encoder with the resolution, frame rate, source video, and peripherals you plan to use. A plug-in meter’s watt reading can be put into the formula above; a meter that records kWh over a representative period gives a more direct monthly estimate.
- Use the applicable marginal rate. Check the electricity price for the added consumption, including time-of-use periods or other rate changes where relevant.
- Keep the boundary consistent. Decide whether you are estimating the PC only or also measuring peripherals, and include only the equipment that will actually remain powered.
Do not mistake the Tiny-In-One monitor figures for PC power use
Lenovo lists 14 W typical and 34 W maximum power consumption for the ThinkCentre Tiny-In-One 24 Gen 5 monitor. Those are monitor figures, not power figures for the ThinkCentre Tiny computer. The monitor page describes compatibility with ThinkCentre Tiny and ThinkStation Tiny computers from fourth generation; it does not establish the PC’s draw.

Account for the stream settings and connection
The encoder workload and network are part of a dependable 24/7 setup, even though they do not change the PC-only arithmetic unless they affect its measured draw or add powered equipment. YouTube’s encoder settings guidance varies by codec, resolution, and frame rate. For H.264 at 1080p and 30 fps, it gives a recommended bitrate range of 5–14 Mbps. Test with representative audio and movement, then monitor stream health.

Keep the operating-cost estimate complete
- Electricity: multiply the measured PC energy use by your marginal rate. Add other powered equipment only if you measure or estimate it separately.
- Internet: your broadband bill is a separate cost; this calculation does not include it.
- Reliability: test the actual encoder and upload connection before depending on unattended streaming. A cost estimate alone does not establish that the stream will remain healthy.
