Mizoram’s Anthurium Festival returned for a three-day edition from October 1–3, 2026, after a three-year hiatus. Held at Reiek and Ailawng in Mamit district, the festival brought together anthurium displays and cultivation with Mizo cultural events, village visits, mountain treks and cave exploration.
What is Mizoram’s Anthurium Festival?
The Anthurium Festival is a tourism and horticulture event centered on Mizoram’s anthurium flowers and the communities that grow them. The 2026 edition was presented by Mizoram Tourism in association with the state’s Department of Horticulture. Its program extended beyond flower displays to include outdoor activities, local food, traditional games and performances.

Anthurium cultivation is also part of the festival’s local-economy story. Mizoram Tourism’s October 2026 release links a women-led cultivation movement with the Zo Anthurium Growers Society and says growers supply flowers to markets in India and beyond. The sources do not give a current grower count, sales figure or export volume.
Where and when was the 2026 festival held?
The three-day festival ran October 1–3, 2026, at Reiek and Ailawng in Mamit district. The contemporaneous release identifies both locations; the Government of India’s Incredible India listing names Reiek Tourist Resort and describes the event as a three-day festival traditionally held in September or October. The 2026 dates have passed, and details for a future edition should be confirmed through a new official announcement.

The 2026 program included flower shows, nursery visits and garden experiences, as well as visits to the Rose Garden. These activities connected the festival’s floral displays with the growers and cultivation behind them.
Mountains, trails and caves
Listed activities included the Reiek Tlang Sunrise Trek and treks at Ngai Tlang and Ailawng Tlang. The release also named cave exploration at Khuangchera Puk, Thawngpawnga Puk and Ngaitei Puk, alongside visits to Reiek Heritage Village and nearby villages. The broader government tourism listing also describes indigenous games, zip-lining and rifle shooting as festival experiences. That general description should not be taken as confirmation that every activity was part of the 2026 schedule.

How did organizers describe the community benefit?
Tourism Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar described the festival as a way to connect tourism with local livelihoods. In the October 1, 2026 Mizoram Tourism release republished by E-Pao, Hmar said: “Tourism must create value not only for destinations, but for the people who make those destinations special.” The release said organizers hoped visitor spending on local transport, food, homestays, guides, artisans and growers would spread activity beyond event grounds. This was an intended benefit, not a measured economic result.

The 2026 edition is over. The Incredible India listing shows “Ticket: No” for its event entry, but that listing does not establish ticket arrangements for a future edition. The consulted sources do not provide current transport schedules, accommodation availability, accessibility details, opening hours or a festival contact. A September 2026 Vanglaini preview discussed traffic and road conditions, but does not establish a final travel advisory or present-day road status.
