MIUI 14 was unveiled in China in December 2022. Xiaomi announced its first international rollout in February 2023, with the initial global releases planned for the first quarter of 2023. There was no single worldwide OTA date: availability depended on the phone, country, firmware region, carrier, and rollout stage.
MIUI 14 is now a historical Xiaomi software version. HyperOS has replaced it as Xiaomi’s main software branding, so current support should be checked separately from the old MIUI 14 eligibility lists.

When did MIUI 14 come out?
| Milestone | What it meant |
|---|---|
| December 2022 | MIUI 14 was announced in China. |
| February 2023 | Xiaomi announced the initial international rollout schedule. |
| Q1 2023 | The first global devices were scheduled to begin receiving the update. |
| After Q1 2023 | More models and regional firmware branches were added at different times. |
The February announcement was a rollout schedule, not a promise that every listed phone would receive an OTA update on the same day. Xiaomi released separate China, Global, EEA, India, Indonesia, Russia, Taiwan, and other regional builds. A phone could therefore receive MIUI 14 in one market before an otherwise similar model received it elsewhere.
The initial global schedule covered 18 phones, according to contemporary reporting, and Xiaomi indicated that additional devices would follow. The list should not be treated as a universal or final catalog of every Xiaomi, Redmi, or POCO phone that eventually received MIUI 14. See the reported global rollout schedule for the original announcement context.

Which phones supported MIUI 14?
Eligibility depended on the exact model and software branch, not just the family name printed on the box. The initial global rollout included devices from the following groups:
- the Xiaomi 12 family;
- the Mi 11 family;
- the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G; and
- the Redmi Note 10 family.
These were part of the initially reported global schedule, not a claim that every regional version of every model received an identical update. China models, global models, European EEA variants, Indian versions, Indonesian versions, and POCO equivalents could have different build numbers and release timing.
A reliable compatibility check must match:
- the exact commercial model and model number;
- the country or market where the phone was sold;
- the firmware region or ROM branch;
- stable release versus beta or pilot software;
- carrier restrictions or approval requirements; and
- the phone’s remaining support period.
Do not assume that a Redmi, POCO, Xiaomi, or older Mi-branded device with a similar name is interchangeable with another region’s version. Imported phones are especially easy to misclassify.

How to check whether your phone received MIUI 14
- Open Settings.
- Choose About phone or About device.
- Tap the MIUI version or HyperOS version panel.
- Tap Check for updates.
Depending on the MIUI revision and device family, the updater may also show options such as automatic updates, early-update enrollment, Wi-Fi-only downloads, or downloading the latest package. Labels are not identical on every Xiaomi phone.
Before deciding that an update is missing, record the following information:

- the complete model name;
- the MIUI build number;
- the Android version;
- the region suffix in the build number;
- whether the phone is carrier-branded or imported; and
- whether the bootloader or system software has been modified.
The region suffix is important because a Global ROM, EEA ROM, India ROM, and China ROM follow different release channels. The phone’s current MIUI or HyperOS screen is generally more useful than a generic online list.
Why an eligible phone might not have received MIUI 14
Staged OTA rollout
Xiaomi commonly releases system updates in stages. A build may first go to a limited group, then expand after Xiaomi monitors installation and stability. Being on an announced list did not guarantee immediate availability.

A phone sold in Europe may use an EEA build, while a similar phone sold elsewhere uses Global, India, Indonesia, or China firmware. Each branch can have its own approval and release timetable.
Carrier testing
Carrier-branded devices may wait for operator testing or approval. This can delay an update even after Xiaomi has published a schedule for the unlocked version.
Imported or seller-modified software
An imported Chinese phone may still be running a China ROM, while a seller may have installed or altered software marketed as “global.” Such devices do not necessarily follow the update schedule for phones officially sold in the buyer’s country.

Withdrawn or delayed firmware
A rollout can be paused if Xiaomi identifies a serious bug or other problem. A device may also have been moved directly to a later release rather than receiving the exact MIUI 14 package a reader expected.

Low battery, insufficient storage, unstable connectivity, or a failed previous installation can prevent an update. These are separate from eligibility, but they can make an eligible phone appear unsupported.
End of support
Older phones may have reached the end of their software-support period. However, missing MIUI 14 alone does not prove that a phone is unsupported: MIUI releases, Android upgrades, HyperOS updates, and security patches do not always follow the same schedule.
Recommended troubleshooting sequence
- Confirm the exact model rather than relying on its product family.
- Open Settings → About phone and copy the full build number.
- Identify the ROM or regional suffix.
- Install any currently offered system updates.
- Connect to reliable Wi-Fi, charge the phone, and free adequate storage.
- Restart the phone and check again later if the rollout was staged.
- Check Xiaomi’s regional support pages or official community announcements.
- If the device is imported, carrier-locked, bootloader-unlocked, or seller-modified, contact Xiaomi support or an authorized service channel.
Do not make random firmware flashing the default fix. Installing a package for the wrong model or region can cause data loss, failed updates, missing Google services, modem problems, or warranty complications. Back up your data before any manual recovery, factory reset, or other advanced procedure.
MIUI 14 is not Android 14
MIUI is Xiaomi’s interface and system layer; Android is the underlying operating system. They use separate version numbers.

Some MIUI 14 builds were based on Android 13, while later MIUI 14 builds for newer devices could use a different Android base. Receiving MIUI 14 did not automatically mean receiving Android 14, and a phone’s MIUI version cannot be used to infer its Android version.
Check both independently under Settings → About phone. One panel may show the MIUI or HyperOS version, while a separate entry shows the Android version.
What did MIUI 14 change?
MIUI 14 introduced or promoted changes including:
- visual redesigns and updated interface elements;
- system optimization and storage-related improvements;
- new widgets and personalization options;
- privacy and security changes;
- multitasking and selected cross-device features; and
- features restricted to particular models, regions, or software versions.
Not every advertised feature appeared on every eligible phone. Xiaomi’s software descriptions, including its retained HyperOS product page, note that features and availability can vary by model, region, and system version.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.What is the relationship between MIUI 14 and HyperOS?
MIUI 14 was Xiaomi’s final major MIUI-branded generation. HyperOS became the successor branding, with Xiaomi describing its initial global rollout as beginning in Q1 2024 for the Xiaomi 13 series and Xiaomi Pad 6.
HyperOS is not itself the same thing as a particular Android version. A phone’s HyperOS version and Android version still need to be checked separately. Likewise, a phone that missed MIUI 14 may have received a later HyperOS update if it remained eligible under Xiaomi’s support policy and its regional firmware channel.

For a phone being used in 2026, the practical question is no longer whether it was on an old MIUI 14 list. Check the latest HyperOS offer, current Android version, and security-patch status instead.
How long did Xiaomi support these phones?
Xiaomi says it typically maintains security updates for at least two years after a model’s first shipment, while some models receive three years or longer, depending on actual conditions. This is a general security-update policy, not a universal promise that every phone receives a fixed number of major Android or MIUI upgrades.
For a specific device, consult Xiaomi’s Security Center device policy and the phone’s regional support page. Xiaomi’s support-policy FAQ provides the broader qualification.
If your phone is no longer supported
Back up photos, messages, and app data using Xiaomi’s built-in tools, Google backup, or a local computer before replacing or recovering the phone. If the device has a corrupted system or a region problem, use Xiaomi’s official support channel or an authorized service provider rather than an unverified flashing service.
If you replace the phone, choose based on current HyperOS and Android support, security-update duration, regional compatibility, and price—not simply on whether the model once qualified for MIUI 14. An old clearance phone with historical MIUI 14 eligibility may have little remaining security support.
Bottom line
MIUI 14 was announced in China in December 2022 and scheduled for its first global rollout in Q1 2023. It never had one universal worldwide release date, and an announced phone list was not a guarantee of a simultaneous OTA in every country. Check the exact model, ROM region, build number, carrier status, and current support policy. In 2026, MIUI 14 should be treated as a historical compatibility reference; HyperOS and current security support are the relevant measures for an active phone.
