Mirae Asset Leaders on India’s AI Advantage: What the Interviews Actually Say

The interviews behind the “India’s AI advantage” framing do not establish a measured advantage. They describe two related but distinct ideas: Young Kim argued in March 2025 that India remained a long-term growth opportunity even as global investor attention favored AI and technology stocks in the US and China; in 2026, Swarup Mohanty discussed global demand for AI-linked businesses and the perception that India is underexposed. Those are attributed views about investment opportunity and investor allocation—not proof that India lacks AI businesses or that it will deliver superior returns.

Which Mirae Asset leader is the headline referring to?

The title can point to different executives, depending on which interview is meant. The Business Standard interview published in March 2025 identifies Young Kim as President and Chief Global Officer of Mirae Asset Global Investments—not simply as the company’s CEO. Interviews published in 2026 identify Swarup Mohanty as Vice Chairman and CEO of Mirae Asset’s India investment-management business, also described as Mirae Asset Mutual Fund.

What did Young Kim say about India and AI?

In the March 2025 Business Standard interview, Kim presented India as a long-term opportunity while noting that investors’ short-term attention had shifted toward AI and technology stocks in the US and China. His point was a contrast between India’s longer-term growth case and the markets drawing attention around AI at that time.

That is Kim’s investment opinion, not a verified forecast of returns. The interview does not establish that India would outperform those markets, nor does the attention going to US and Chinese technology stocks show that India has no AI opportunity.

What did Swarup Mohanty say about global AI investment flows?

In interviews published in 2026, Mohanty discussed global capital favoring AI-linked businesses and the perception that India is underexposed to AI. This describes how some investors may view the market and allocate capital; it is not evidence that India lacks AI companies or cannot benefit from AI adoption.

The distinction matters: a perceived gap in exposure can influence where investors put money without establishing the underlying strength or weakness of a country’s AI sector. The cited interviews do not provide an independent measure of India’s AI exposure or a quantified “AI advantage.”

Does Mirae Asset’s AI focus mean there is an AI fund to consider?

A 2024 Value Research interview names the Mirae Asset Global X Artificial Intelligence and Technology ETF Fund of Funds as an example of the firm’s AI investment focus. That identification alone does not establish the fund’s current availability, performance, investment objective, benchmark, costs, holdings, geographic exposure or suitability for any particular investor.

Before assessing an AI-themed fund, a reader would need current information on those details, as well as the risks of concentrated exposure to a fast-changing theme. The cited interview is not enough to make an investment recommendation.

What can readers conclude from the interviews?

  • Kim’s 2025 remarks set India’s long-term growth potential against then-current investor attention to AI and technology stocks in the US and China.
  • Mohanty’s 2026 remarks describe global interest in AI-linked businesses and a perception that India is underexposed.
  • Neither account demonstrates a measured Indian AI advantage or establishes future market performance.
  • The named fund is an example of AI-related product focus, not evidence of current availability or suitability.

The interviews are useful as snapshots of how Mirae Asset executives framed India’s investment prospects at different times. They should be read as attributed perspectives, not as independent proof of an AI lead or a return outlook.
