Minisforum lists the N5 Pro with an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 370 processor, 12 cores and 24 threads, boost clock up to 5.1 GHz, Radeon 890M graphics, and an integrated NPU rated up to 50 TOPS. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements or FastFlowLM performance results. The product page’s description of reduced CPU/GPU load is likewise a Minisforum claim, not a demonstrated result for this runtime.

The Linux path involves configuring a driver and runtime stack; the cited guide does not establish a one-click installation through a NAS app store. FastFlowLM is designed for supported Ryzen AI NPUs, so the N5 Pro’s listed XDNA2-family processor is the reason to investigate it. The manufacturer’s up-to-50-TOPS rating describes the NPU specification; it does not predict tokens per second, model compatibility, memory needs, or real-world performance. No cited result compares FastFlowLM on the N5 Pro against its CPU or Radeon 890M GPU.

If your main goal is to run local language models, verify the model and runtime requirements and treat actual performance as an open question until you can test your intended configuration. If your priority is network storage, evaluate the N5 Pro on its storage and NAS merits separately rather than assuming NPU inference is part of a proven turnkey setup.

Minisforum lists five 3.5-inch/2.5-inch SATA 3.0 bays, M.2 NVMe slots, and support for up to two U.2 NVMe drives through an included M.2-to-U.2 adapter. The adapter occupies SSD slots 2 and 3, so the listed M.2 and U.2 options involve a slot trade-off; do not assume every drive type can be populated at once.

These are NAS configuration options, not stated FastFlowLM prerequisites. Choose HDD, ECC memory, or NVMe capacity for the storage and applications you intend to run; the cited FastFlowLM instructions do not require a particular drive configuration. Minisforum also describes Docker deployment, backup and synchronization, and media use cases, but those are manufacturer-described capabilities rather than tested outcomes here.
