To harvest wheat in Minecraft, wait until the stalk is fully grown and brown, then break it with your usual attack or break control. Collect the wheat and seeds that drop, and replant seeds to keep the farm producing. If you do not have seeds yet, break grass to find them.
How to grow wheat before harvesting
- Break grass until you collect wheat seeds. Minecraft Wiki’s crop-farming tutorial reports a 1-in-8 chance for a grass plant to drop seeds; this is not a guarantee for each plant. Minecraft Wiki: Crop farming
- Use a hoe on dirt or grass blocks to turn them into farmland, then plant the seeds.

How to tell when wheat is ready

How to harvest and replant
- Break the mature crop using the normal attack or break control for your device and controls. Button wording differs across sources and input setups, so do not assume one mouse button applies to every platform.
- Pick up the drops. A mature plant yields wheat and seeds; the cited tutorial reports one wheat and one to four seeds.
- Replant seeds on the farmland. Keep enough seeds for the next planting, then use any extra as you choose.
