There is no verified head-to-head test here that proves either brand makes the better hammer drill. On published maximums, FLEX’s FX1252 leads in top speed and impact rate, while Milwaukee’s M18 FUEL drill leads in stated torque. For most buyers, the practical choice is the battery platform they already own—then the exact model, kit contents, size, and warranty that suit the job.
Which drills are being compared?
The closest models in the available specifications are FLEX’s FX1252 24V brushless 1/2-inch hammer drill and Milwaukee’s M18 FUEL 1/2-inch hammer drill. Model numbers matter: FLEX’s cited kit is FX1252-2A, containing the FX1252-Z drill, while Milwaukee’s official figures below are for the ONE-KEY 2906-20. Pro Tool Reviews separately covers the standard Gen 4 2904-20.
The published figures are manufacturer specifications unless identified as reviewer measurements. They are useful for narrowing a choice, but they are not results from a controlled FLEX-versus-Milwaukee trial.
| Specification | FLEX FX1252 | Milwaukee M18 FUEL |
|---|---|---|
| Model represented | FX1252-Z drill; FX1252-2A kit (FLEX product page) | 2906-20 ONE-KEY, official Milwaukee figures from April 17, 2023 (Milwaukee release) |
| Maximum torque | Up to 1,000 in-lb | 1,400 in-lb |
| No-load speed | 0–600 / 0–2,300 RPM | 0–500 / 0–2,100 RPM |
| Maximum impact rate | Up to 36,800 IPM | 33,000 BPM |
| Chuck | 1/2-inch | 1/2-inch all-metal |
| Length | 6.4 inches | 6.9 inches |
| Tool weight | 3.2 lb | 3.2 lb without battery for 2906-20; Pro Tool Reviews lists 3.3 lb bare for standard 2904-20 |
| Battery platform | FLEX 24V batteries | Milwaukee M18 batteries |
| Cited kit contents | FX1252-2A: two 2.5Ah batteries, charger, side handle, bit holder, belt clip, and bag | The cited 2906-20 release gives bare-tool specifications; other kit SKUs exist |
IPM and BPM both describe impacts per minute, but the listed rates and torque figures are each brand’s published maximums, not a common standardized measurement. The higher FLEX speed and impact-rate numbers do not prove it will finish a particular hole sooner; Milwaukee’s higher stated torque does not establish that it will outperform FLEX in every material.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. What independent testing says—and does not say
Pro Tool Reviews’ Milwaukee M18 FUEL review reports testing the Gen 4 2904 against more than a dozen competing drills. It describes Milwaukee as consistently near the top overall, while noting that one or two competitors beat it in individual tests. The reported tasks include soft-torque, spade-bit, self-feed-bit, and concrete-bit testing with 5.0Ah and 6.0Ah High Output batteries. The review does not give a result for the FLEX FX1252, so it cannot establish a direct winner between these exact drills.
The same review compares Milwaukee’s Gen 4 2904 with the Gen 3 2804: it lists 500/2,100 RPM, 33,000 BPM, and 1,400 in-lb for Gen 4, versus 550/2,000 RPM, 32,000 BPM, and 1,200 in-lb for Gen 3. It identifies AutoStop kickback control as new for Gen 4 and notes that high-capacity batteries can affect balance. These are generation details, not evidence of a FLEX comparison.

How to choose for your work
If you already own batteries
Choose the platform that fits your existing batteries and chargers unless another difference is important enough to justify starting or expanding a second system. FLEX specifies compatibility with its 24V batteries, chargers, and tools; Milwaukee identifies the 2906-20 as compatible with M18 batteries. The systems are not interchangeable.
If you need a complete kit
Compare the exact SKU and everything in the box, not just the drill name. FLEX’s cited FX1252-2A kit includes two 2.5Ah batteries and a charger as well as several accessories. Milwaukee’s cited 2906-20 figures are for the bare tool; check the contents of the specific Milwaukee kit you are considering. Battery capacity and charger inclusion affect the real comparison.

If speed, impact rate, or torque is your priority
- Published top speed and impact rate: FLEX lists the higher maxima—2,300 RPM and 36,800 IPM, versus Milwaukee’s 2,100 RPM and 33,000 BPM.
- Published maximum torque: Milwaukee lists 1,400 in-lb, versus FLEX’s 1,000 in-lb.
Use those figures as specification-screening criteria rather than a ranking of drilling speed, durability, or performance under load.
If size and handling matter
The cited FLEX listing gives a 6.4-inch length and 3.2 lb tool weight. Milwaukee’s official ONE-KEY 2906-20 release gives 6.9 inches and 3.2 lb without a battery; the independent review lists the standard 2904 at 3.3 lb bare. These are not perfectly like-for-like model and source comparisons. If working overhead or in confined spaces, compare the exact model with the battery attached, since battery size changes total weight and balance.

If you drill masonry regularly
A hammer drill is intended for holes in masonry, brick, or concrete within the tool’s capacity. Match masonry bits and anchors to the material and hole size. For repeated large-diameter concrete drilling, compare a rotary hammer—a different tool class—instead of treating these drills as substitutes for one.
If warranty coverage affects your choice
FLEX’s FX1252 page states a 5-year limited warranty after registration within 30 days of purchase, or a 3-year limited warranty without registration. Those are the terms stated on that product page; verify the current conditions for your purchase. Milwaukee warranty periods and exceptions vary by product, so confirm coverage for the exact drill through Milwaukee’s warranty information.
