Mike Tomlin says he has spent more than 12 years building a city in Minecraft Creative Mode. He began after watching his children and their friends play, drawn to the game’s building tools and his own interest in architecture. His first public tour, posted to YouTube on September 30, 2026, offers a look at city rooftops, apartments and other spaces—not a confirmed walkthrough of the entire world.
What Mike Tomlin’s Minecraft city looks like
The first episode, titled “EP 1: ROOFTOPS, PENTHOUSES, AND URBAN LIVING,” focuses on detailed urban buildings and interiors. CBS Sports’ October 1, 2026 report describes furnished bedrooms, aquariums, fireplaces and art, along with businesses set around the residential areas. Tomlin discusses details such as lighting, apartment layouts, balconies, elevators and landscaping.

Buildings and spaces in the first tour
- An early hotel with a boutique spa and conference room.
- A basement speakeasy.
- Baseball and soccer stadiums.
- High-rise apartments and rooftop penthouses, including penthouses added to older buildings.
Those features are what the first episode shows and reporting describes; they should not be taken as a complete inventory of the city.
Why Tomlin started building
Tomlin said he became interested in Minecraft after watching his children, who were then in middle school, and their friends play. He liked building and was interested in architecture, so Creative Mode appealed to him. CBS Sports reports that he built the city on PlayStation, but does not identify the console generation or Minecraft edition.
