He still describes losing the contract as being fired. In an October 2, 2026 report, Dexerto also said viewers were refunded for the AI-generated T-shirt merchandise, but the available reporting does not confirm that every buyer received a refund.
What Dave said about being fired
Dave’s earlier account that he had been fired has changed. In its October 2, 2026 report, Dexerto said he clarified that the relationship involved a contract between two unnamed companies, and that the contract was terminated. Dave nevertheless argues that losing the contract amounts to being fired.

That is Dave’s description of the situation, not a verified employment record. The report does not include the contract, a statement from either company, or other company documentation, so it does not independently establish the terms or status of the business relationship.
What is known about refunds for the AI merch
Dexerto’s October 2 report says viewers were refunded for the AI-generated T-shirt designs. Earlier coverage by Dexerto described an X user sharing a screenshot of a refund email. That provides evidence of a reported refund, but the available reports do not establish how many orders were refunded, whether every buyer received one, or when individual payments were returned.

Dave acknowledges using AI was a mistake
Dexerto quoted Dave saying, “That was not the move. I shouldn’t have used AI.” He reportedly explained that he lacked time to handle the situation another way. The report also quotes him saying he spent “$10k” in connection with the AI-merch situation, but does not specify what that figure covered. It should be understood as Dave’s statement, not a verified expense total.

In September 2026, Dave told Dexerto that his son’s YouTube promotion had incurred $118,000 on a company card and that he faced job and repayment consequences. That amount and those consequences remain attributed claims in the earlier report; the available coverage does not include independent financial or employment records verifying them.

Dexerto’s September coverage of the merchandise store also discussed the reported refund-email screenshot. Taken together, the reports document Dave’s evolving account and reports of refunds, but do not independently verify the underlying employment, contract, financial, or refund records.
