Whether it suits you depends on the exact local version, your laundry volume, the space available and the cost of running and refilling it.
What the WTW870WPM is—and why the local version matters
This is a combination washer-dryer: it can wash and dry in one appliance, rather than requiring a separate tumble dryer. Miele’s Germany listing identifies a 9 kg wash/6 kg dry WT1 model, while its Hong Kong specification sheet gives the same capacities. Miele Australia’s product page and specification sheet identify a 9 kg wash/5 kg dry version. Those are market-specific configurations, not one universal capacity. Check the full model or material number and local specification before buying, particularly if you are comparing a retailer listing with a manufacturer page.

Wash capacity is not dry capacity. A load that fits the machine for washing may be too large to dry in one go, so you may need to remove part of the load or run smaller wash loads when using a complete wash-and-dry program. The difference between 6 kg and 5 kg drying capacity also matters when comparing listings across markets.

Miele Germany’s current product listing gives separate figures for washing alone and a complete wash-and-dry cycle. They should not be treated as interchangeable: the complete cycle uses more energy and water than washing alone.

These figures are from Miele Germany’s product listing accessed in 2026. They are not a household bill estimate: actual costs depend on how often you run each type of cycle and your local energy and water tariffs. The distinction between wash-only and complete-cycle ratings is particularly important if you expect to dry most loads in the appliance.
Does it fit your laundry space?
Miele Germany lists dimensions of 596 mm wide, 850 mm high and 714 mm deep, with a weight of 102 kg. The listed depth with the door open is 1132 mm. Measure the installation space and the route from delivery access to the final position; a depth figure taken with the door shut does not account for the door’s projection when open. Also check local installation requirements, clearances and whether the floor and delivery route can accommodate a heavy appliance.

The Hong Kong specification sheet gives that market’s electrical and hose details: 220–240 V, 2.1–2.4 kW, a 13 A fuse, a 1.55 m water inlet hose, a 1.5 m drain hose and a 2 m power lead. It says not to position the socket behind the appliance. These are Hong Kong specifications, not a universal installation guide; use the manual for your local model and confirm the connection and placement with a qualified installer.

TwinDos automatic detergent dosing
TwinDos is Miele’s automatic dosing system, which uses UltraPhase 1 and 2. Miele Germany says precise dosing can save “up to 30%” detergent. That is the manufacturer’s claim, not an independently verified saving for every household or load. The system also makes cartridge availability and recurring refill cost part of the ownership decision. The German product details list a three-cap pack and a voucher for five UltraPhase cartridges; check the actual sale terms and included items in your market.

SteamCare and wash options
Miele’s regional materials list SteamCare, PowerWash or QuickPower, CapDosing and AddLoad, alongside delayed start. These features can broaden how you use the machine, but the precise functions and names should be confirmed on the local version rather than assumed from another country’s listing.
Controls and construction details
The German materials specify M Touch controls, a honeycomb drum and a ProfiEco motor. The Hong Kong and Australian materials also describe features including TwinDos and PowerWash. These are manufacturer specifications; they do not establish how a feature performs in an independent test or how the appliance will hold up over years of use.

Is the Miele WTW870WPM worth it?
It may make sense if a single appliance is valuable in your home, you want automatic dosing and steam-care options, and you can plan around a smaller drying load and the stated complete-cycle duration. It is less straightforward if you routinely need to wash and dry large loads back-to-back or want to avoid consumable-specific detergent refills. Compare the exact local version against your typical laundry loads, not just the 9 kg wash headline.

Miele Germany displayed a price of €2,759 including VAT on the product listing accessed in 2026, with delivery costs added and optional service options available.
