Midwest 90: Rapid City Brings Diner Management to a Monster Apocalypse; Early Access Announced for November 10

Midwest 90: Rapid City is a single-player PC game about running a roadside diner during a monster apocalypse—and turning some of the creatures into ingredients. Hidden Chest Studios announced a Steam Early Access launch for November 10, 2026, though Steam’s store page still showed the release date as “To be announced” on October 7, 2026.

What is Midwest 90: Rapid City?

Set in Rapid City, South Dakota, in 2034 but styled with a 1990s aesthetic, the game puts players in charge of a diner in a city threatened by monsters. Its planned loop combines ordinary restaurant decisions with survival: set menus and prices, manage staff and supplies, research and upgrade the business, and trap or harvest monsters for ingredients. Players are also expected to defend the diner at night. Choices in the story are described as affecting both the city and the business.

When does it come out on Steam Early Access?

Hidden Chest Studios’ October 1, 2026 announcement says Midwest 90: Rapid City is planned to enter Early Access on November 10, 2026. However, the Steam store listing accessed October 7 displayed the release date as “To be announced.” The November date is therefore the developer’s announced plan, not a date currently confirmed in Steam’s release-date field. What is planned for Early Access?

The developer’s announcement says the launch build is planned to include three starting options or story components:

• Endless Mode, for open-ended diner survival.
• The Prologue.
• Chapter 1.

The announced roadmap then schedules customized Endless Mode options and new monster content for December 31, Chapter 2 for January 28, and version 1.0 with the final chapter for March 2027. These are future roadmap targets, not confirmation that the content has shipped. The developer says buyers during Early Access will receive the listed updates free.

Can you try a demo?

The developer has also said that translations in the current demo are temporary and AI-assisted, and that it intends to use human translators after the game text is finalized. That is the team’s stated plan, not confirmation of the final game’s localization.
