1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFor a new individual subscription in the United States, Microsoft 365 Premium is the relevant plan Microsoft currently promotes for heavy Copilot use. It combines Copilot in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote with AI agents for more complex work, higher-use allowances on selected experiences and Premium-only capabilities. A former Copilot Pro Store address now redirects to the Premium product page, but Microsoft’s published pages do not establish that every historical Copilot Pro benefit moved across unchanged. Choose based on the features, account type and sharing rules you need now—not on the old name.
What happened to Copilot Pro?
Microsoft’s current consumer plans pages present Microsoft 365 Premium rather than a separately described Copilot Pro subscription. A former Copilot Pro Store URL redirects to the Microsoft 365 Premium product page. That redirect confirms the current storefront path; it does not, by itself, document a complete discontinuation timeline or prove one-to-one continuity for every former Pro feature.

That distinction matters if you are comparing an old article, an existing Copilot Pro subscription or a saved price to what Microsoft sells today. The evidence available for the current US consumer offer supports a present-day Premium comparison, not a historical feature migration table. If you already have Copilot Pro, check the account’s current plan and renewal details before assuming that a particular allowance, entitlement or billing date changed in a specific way.

What Microsoft 365 Premium includes now
Copilot inside the core desktop apps
Microsoft lists Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote desktop apps with Copilot in the Premium bundle. That makes the plan most useful when your work already happens in those applications and you want assistance in the document, workbook, presentation, mailbox or notebook rather than in a separate chat window.

- Word: Copilot is part of the listed app entitlement for drafting and working with documents.
- Excel: Copilot is listed, but it has a specific file and saving requirement described below.
- PowerPoint: Copilot is included in the listed desktop-app set for presentation work.
- Outlook: Copilot is included for the subscription owner in the current consumer bundle.
- OneNote: OneNote appears in the same Premium Copilot app list.
The listing establishes access to Copilot in these apps; it does not mean every feature behaves identically in every file, platform or region. Microsoft’s support guidance says features can vary by account and subscription, so confirm the experience after signing in with the personal account that owns the subscription.
AI agents for more complex tasks
Premium’s description goes beyond in-app assistance by naming AI agents for complex work. Microsoft’s examples include producing research reports with source citations and analyzing data with visualizations. These examples indicate the kind of work Premium is designed to support; they are not a promise that every agent accepts every source, file type or request without review.
For high-stakes research, inspect the cited sources and the generated analysis before relying on it. A source-cited report can still require fact-checking, and a visualization can still reflect errors in the underlying workbook or instructions. The practical value is the ability to ask for a multi-step result, not a guarantee that the result is publication-ready.

Premium-exclusive Copilot capabilities
Microsoft says some Copilot features are exclusive to Premium. The reviewed product pages do not provide a complete, permanent inventory of every exclusive feature, so treat “Premium-exclusive” as a plan-level distinction rather than a fixed checklist. Feature names, eligibility and limits can change as Microsoft updates the consumer plans.
Usage limits: “extensive” does not mean unlimited
Microsoft states that AI usage limits apply. Premium is positioned for extensive use on selected experiences, but the published pages reviewed here do not give one universal numerical quota that covers all Copilot prompts, agents and applications.
That means you should not calculate value as an unlimited number of messages. Instead, evaluate the kinds of work you do and how often you expect to use the higher-use experiences. Limits may differ by feature, account, region or product update. If your decision depends on a specific daily or monthly allowance, look at the limit shown in your own Microsoft account or the current plan terms at the time you subscribe.

- Share Your Family Subscription | You can share all of your subscription benefits with up to 6 people for use across all their devices.
- Occasional drafting: If you use Copilot a few times a month, the Premium-specific headroom may not be the deciding factor.
- Recurring document and spreadsheet work: The bundled app access and the ability to use selected experiences extensively become more relevant.
- Agent-heavy workflows: Premium is the current consumer plan explicitly positioned for complex agent tasks, but you still need to monitor feature-specific limits.
Sharing: six Microsoft 365 users, one AI owner
The current Microsoft Store description allows the subscription to be shared with up to five other people, for six users total including the purchaser. That household-sharing number does not mean six people receive the listed AI features.
Microsoft says the AI features in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Designer are for the subscription owner only. Other people may receive the non-AI benefits that the sharing terms provide, but you should not count them as additional Copilot users when comparing household value.
| Person | What to assume from the published sharing rule |
|---|---|
| Subscription owner | Receives the owner’s Premium AI entitlement, subject to feature eligibility and usage limits. |
| One to five invited household members | Can share the plan within the six-user maximum, but the listed AI features are not shared with them. |
| More than five additional people | Outside the stated household-sharing limit. |
If several people in your household need Copilot themselves, calculate the cost of separate eligible subscriptions rather than treating one Premium purchase as six AI seats.
Personal accounts versus work and school accounts
This comparison concerns Microsoft’s consumer subscription and a personal Microsoft account. Microsoft’s Copilot app guidance distinguishes personal accounts from work or school accounts backed by Microsoft Entra, and says features vary by account and subscription.
A consumer Premium subscription therefore should not be treated as an organizational license for company or school data. Your employer or school may control which Copilot experiences are available, which files can be accessed and how data is handled. If the files you need are in an organizational tenant, ask the administrator or licensing owner which work or school entitlement applies. Buying a personal plan does not automatically grant permission to use organizational data.

Microsoft specifically says Copilot in Excel requires AutoSave to be on and the workbook to be saved to OneDrive. It does not work on an unsaved file. A workbook sitting only in a local folder, or a workbook that has not been saved yet, can therefore fail to provide the Copilot experience even when the account and plan are eligible.

Prepare an Excel workbook for Copilot
- Open the workbook in the eligible Excel app and turn on the AutoSave control.
- Save the workbook to OneDrive. In Excel, use the save commands and choose a OneDrive location rather than leaving the file unsaved or only on the local device.
- Wait for the save to complete, then reopen or continue in the saved workbook.
- If Copilot is still unavailable, confirm that you are signed in with the personal account that owns Premium and that the workbook is the saved OneDrive copy.
This requirement is a practical eligibility check, not an indication that every Microsoft 365 file must be moved to OneDrive. It applies to the Excel Copilot behavior Microsoft describes.
Price and billing for the current US consumer listing
Microsoft’s US consumer pages checked on October 13, 2026 list Microsoft 365 Premium at $19.99 per month or $199.99 per year. The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it. The annual price is lower than paying the monthly price for twelve months: twelve monthly payments would total $239.88, which is $39.89 more than the listed annual price. That arithmetic compares the displayed prices only; taxes, currency conversion and regional offers can differ.
| Billing choice | US price shown October 13, 2026 | Simple 12-month comparison | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly | $19.99 per month | $239.88 if maintained for twelve monthly renewals | Automatically renews unless canceled; price and features can change. |
| Annual | $199.99 per year | $199.99 for the listed annual term | US listing; verify the current regional price and terms before purchase. |
Microsoft advises selecting the country or region where you will be billed and use the software. Prices, availability, plan names and included features may differ outside the United States. Recheck the current Microsoft plan page before subscribing or renewing, especially if your account is billed in another currency.

How to choose based on the work you actually do
Choose Premium for integrated Microsoft 365 work
Premium is the logical current consumer choice if you want Copilot directly in the five listed desktop apps and expect to use the advanced experiences regularly. It is especially relevant when you routinely move between documents, spreadsheets, presentations, email and notes, because the value comes from having the applications and Copilot in one subscription.
Choose Premium when agents are the reason you are subscribing
If your priority is a multi-step research report with citations or data analysis that produces visualizations, Premium is the plan whose current description explicitly addresses those scenarios. Keep a human review step: verify citations, inspect calculations and check that visualizations represent the intended data.
Do not choose on the assumption of six AI users
Premium can be shared with five other people for a six-user household, but the listed AI features remain limited to the owner. If the deciding requirement is Copilot for a partner, child or colleague, the household-sharing allowance does not satisfy that requirement by itself.

Do not use a consumer plan to solve a work-account licensing problem
If you need Copilot to work with employer or school content, first establish which work or school license and permissions are available. The personal Premium experience and an organization’s Entra-based experience are not interchangeable.
Common purchase and setup mistakes
Assuming the old Pro name guarantees the old feature set
The redirect from a former Copilot Pro Store URL to Premium shows where Microsoft sends visitors now. It does not prove that every historical Pro allowance or feature transferred unchanged. Use the current Premium description and your account’s displayed entitlements for a present-day decision.
Reading “extensive use” as an unlimited quota
Microsoft still applies AI usage limits. Because no single universal number is supplied on the reviewed pages, avoid promises such as “unlimited prompts” or a fixed daily allowance.
Counting invited household members as Copilot seats
The six-user maximum includes the owner and five additional people, but the listed AI features are owner-only. Separate the sharing benefit from the AI entitlement in your budget.
Trying Excel Copilot on an unsaved local workbook
Turn on AutoSave and save the workbook to OneDrive. An unsaved file is specifically excluded from the Excel Copilot behavior Microsoft describes.
Ignoring regional eligibility and age rules
Microsoft notes that age requirements for AI features can vary by region. A feature shown on a US plan page may therefore have different availability or eligibility elsewhere.
A practical checklist before you subscribe
- Confirm that you are buying for a personal Microsoft account, not trying to license an employer or school account.
- Check that Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote are the apps in which you want Copilot.
- Decide whether AI agents for cited research or visualized data analysis are important to your workflow.
- Budget for one AI-enabled owner, even if you will share the broader subscription with up to five other people.
- Accept that AI usage limits apply and that no universal quota is stated on the reviewed pages.
- For Excel, plan to use AutoSave and save workbooks to OneDrive.
- Verify your billing country, local price, age eligibility and the current feature list immediately before purchase.
- If you are comparing an existing Copilot Pro subscription, inspect its current renewal and entitlement details instead of inferring them from the redirect alone.
Bottom line
Microsoft 365 Premium is the current US consumer plan to evaluate when you want broad Copilot access across Microsoft’s desktop productivity apps, higher-use treatment on selected experiences and advanced agents for tasks such as cited research and visualized data analysis. Its $19.99 monthly or $199.99 annual price was listed for the United States on October 13, 2026, and it can be shared with five other people—but the listed AI features are for the owner, not all six users. Treat the former Copilot Pro redirect as a storefront clue rather than proof of a complete historical equivalence, and verify current limits, regional eligibility and account type before committing.
