Both Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux are already playable on current consoles through their existing versions, and a free native update for PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S is announced for October 29, 2026. Japan is scheduled for a November release. As of October 13, 2026, the update has not launched: its advertised resolution, frame-rate modes, and platform-specific features remain publisher claims rather than independently verified results.
Can you play Metro Redux on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S now?
Yes. The current console versions are already listed for play: Xbox’s store lists Metro: Last Light Redux for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, while the PlayStation Store lists the Metro Saga Bundle for PS4 and PS5 and says it is playable on PS5. The PlayStation listing warns that some PS4 features may be absent when played on PS5. These are existing console versions; the upcoming update is the step that adds native support for current-generation hardware.

Deep Silver and PLAION have announced a worldwide console release date of October 29, 2026, for PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S. Japan is scheduled for November, but the publisher’s FAQ does not give a specific day. Because October 29 is still in the future as of October 13, 2026, the update should be treated as upcoming, not available.

The announcement covers both Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux. PLAION says the update is free for existing owners, and that players who purchase either title will automatically receive the update. Its FAQ does not clarify eligibility for every physical-disc edition or region; disc owners should confirm the upgrade route with publisher or platform support before relying on a particular disc entitlement. What performance and visual features are announced?
Deep Silver advertises two console display modes: true 4K at 60 FPS and upscaled 4K at 120 FPS, with suitable TV or monitor hardware required for the latter. These are announced specifications, not verified performance measurements. Final behavior, image quality, and frame-rate consistency cannot be confirmed until the update is released and tested.

The company has not described the update as a remake or remaster, nor as a port to the current version of the 4A Engine.
How do the announced PS5 and Xbox features differ?
The shared headline modes are advertised for consoles, while some named features are specific to a platform. This is a comparison of the publisher’s announcement, not a performance verdict.

Which bundle includes both Redux games?
The Metro Redux Bundle on Xbox lists Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux. The Metro Saga Bundle is broader: Xbox’s listing adds Metro Exodus and its two story expansions, The Two Colonels and Sam’s Story; PlayStation describes its Saga Bundle as including Metro Exodus Gold Edition with bonus DLC. Check the local store listing for current contents and price, since bundle details can differ by storefront or region.

The two-game Redux pairing dates to the 2014 Redux release. In a contemporaneous PlayStation Blog post, 4A Games said gameplay, AI, gunplay, and graphical improvements developed for Last Light were applied to both games. The post also described a boxed PS4 double pack, but that historical mention does not establish current stock, a current-generation disc edition, or physical-disc upgrade eligibility. 4A Games’ 2014 PlayStation Blog post.

What is Metro: Last Light Redux like?
Xbox’s store description says Last Light Redux includes its prior downloadable content and offers Spartan and Survival play styles. Survival is presented as the slower survival-horror option, while Spartan is more combat-oriented. Ranger Mode removes the HUD and emphasizes more dangerous combat and limited resources. These descriptions come from the store listing; they are not a comparative review of how the modes play.
Deep Silver said in its 2026 announcement that the Metro games had reached 50 million copies sold worldwide. That is a franchise-wide figure, not a sales total for either Redux game or for the two-game bundle.
