Meta says Muse can work across connected services, keep going after you close the app, and ask before sensitive actions. That makes it more than a chatbot—but it does not establish how reliably it completes real tasks or what using it feels like over a week. No dated firsthand notes are available here, so this article does not claim a personal trial or invent a surprise. Instead, it separates Meta’s promises from what a careful user should verify.
What Meta Muse is—and what Meta says it can do
Meta announced Muse on September 8, 2026, as a personal AI agent powered by Muse Spark. Unlike a chatbot that mainly responds in conversation, Muse is designed to pursue goals by taking actions through services a user connects. Meta says it runs in a dedicated cloud virtual machine with its own browser and can work across those services. Its examples include sending email, booking travel, filling out forms, negotiating, and handling longer-running goals. These are product descriptions from Meta, not independently measured results. Background work and approvals
Meta says Muse can continue working after the user closes the app, then return when circumstances change or when it needs approval. It also says the agent asks permission before sensitive actions such as sending an email or making a purchase, and provides an audit trail. Those features could reduce the need to supervise every step, but the announcement does not establish how often approval is needed, how well tasks finish, or how much correction users should expect.
What a week with Muse should actually test
A meaningful week-long assessment needs dated records of what was asked, what access was granted, what the agent did, and what the user had to fix. Without those notes, neither a successful experience nor a disappointing one can honestly be attributed to a trial. The useful question is not just whether Muse can act, but whether its actions are dependable and understandable enough for the task.

Completion and correction burden
- Record the requested outcome and whether Muse completed it, partially completed it, or stopped for input.
- Note corrections, retries, missed details, and any action the user had to finish manually.
- Separate a task that merely produced a plausible plan from one that actually changed a connected service as intended.
Asynchronous work and supervision
- Check whether work continued after closing the app, as Meta says it can.
- Record when Muse requested approval and whether the request arrived before an irreversible or consequential action.
- Inspect the audit trail to see whether it makes the agent’s actions clear enough to review.
Access and consequences
- Start with the least sensitive connected service needed for the task and grant only the permissions required.
- Consider the cost of a mistake: a poorly filled draft is different from a sent message, purchase, or booking.
- Verify how to change or disconnect access before relying on the agent for important work.
Is Meta Muse safe to connect to email or shopping?
Meta describes several controls: users choose which services to connect and which permissions to grant; they can change or disconnect access, opt out of interactions being used to train Meta’s AI models, and ask Muse to forget learned details. Meta also says the agent seeks approval for sensitive actions and keeps an audit trail. These are Meta’s stated controls, not independent proof that every action will be safe or that all privacy risks disappear. Meta’s description of Muse controls
Meta’s safety explanation says Muse operates in an isolated cloud environment and that a separate Sentinel system mediates external actions. It also acknowledges two relevant risks: agents can make mistakes, and data they read can be used to attack them. A connected account therefore creates a practical trade-off: more access may let Muse do more, but it also raises the stakes of errors and of content the agent encounters. Review permissions, approval prompts, and the audit trail rather than treating the safety architecture as a guarantee. Meta’s explanation of Muse’s safety approach

Tarek Sheasha, Software Engineer & VP at Meta Superintelligence Labs, wrote on September 8, 2026: “Muse can and will still make mistakes, but we expect they’ll be much less frequent and cause much less damage due to the safety systems we’ve built in.” The expectation of fewer or less damaging mistakes is Meta’s characterization; it is not a published independent measurement. Availability, platforms, and cost
At launch, Meta said Muse was rolling out in the United States on iOS, Android, and the web, and described messaging it through WhatsApp. The Associated Press reported on launch day that access was then limited to the United States and people aged 18 and over. Those are launch-period details, not confirmation of current eligibility; rollout rules may change. Check Meta’s current product information for availability where you live. Meta characterized Muse as free for most needs, with subscription plans for people who want to do more. The launch announcement does not state exact prices or usage allowances, so the cost of a particular workload cannot be established from that announcement. Muse is an agentic service that Meta says can act through connected services, keep working in the background, and request approval for sensitive actions. Meta also describes permission controls and safety systems while acknowledging that mistakes and attacks through read data remain possible. What the available launch material does not establish is a validated success rate for ordinary tasks, how much correction a typical user needs, or whether a particular week of use will feel effortless. Those questions require real task records, not product claims alone.
