Meta and Microsoft are working to reduce employees’ internal use of Anthropic’s Claude, according to The Information. The report does not establish that either company is ending its broader relationship with Anthropic or changing how customers use Claude through its products.
What The Information reports
The report concerns staff use of Claude inside Meta and Microsoft, not a confirmed company-wide decision to leave Anthropic. It does not provide verified details about specific access restrictions, seat reductions, or changes to Meta’s spending.

For Microsoft, The Information says executives had earlier projected at least $1 billion in internal spending on Anthropic technology, then lowered that projection by more than a third. The publication attributes both figures to two people with knowledge of the spending. What the report does—and does not—mean

- How many Meta employees used Claude Code, or whether that number has changed.
- Whether Meta changed employee access, seats, spending, or implementation.
- The revised Microsoft projection, its time frame, and which teams or internal products it covers.
- Whether either company has publicly confirmed the reported changes or given a reason for them.
- Whether customer-facing use of Claude through Microsoft products has changed.
