Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were reported to have visited The Falkland Arms in the Cotswolds on Thursday, October 1, 2026, arriving hand in hand. The Nightly and Us Weekly published their accounts the next day; Us Weekly said its report was based on photographs published by The Sun.
What happened at The Falkland Arms?
The Nightly and Us Weekly reported that the couple had lunch at the Cotswolds pub on October 1. Both described them as holding hands as they arrived. This is a photographed sighting as reported by the publications, not a statement from either Harry or Meghan.

The Nightly quoted unnamed pub staff as saying, “When they visited, Harry and Meghan just acted like locals.” It also quoted staff saying, “Everyone here gets the royal treatment — it doesn’t matter who you are. We’re lucky to get lots of different people visiting us, and everyone is treated like a local.”

What were they wearing and what did they order?

Us Weekly gave a similar account, specifying a navy jacket for Harry. Neither report identified exact clothing brands or models.

The Nightly attributed the meal details to The Sun: Meghan reportedly ordered gluten-free beer-battered haddock and chips with mushy peas and tartar sauce, while Harry chose chicken, ham and leek pie with greens, mashed potatoes and gravy. These are reported menu choices, not details confirmed by the couple.
Was this their first public appearance together in the UK since returning?
Both outlets characterized the pub visit as the couple’s first public appearance together in Britain since the family returned in August. That is their description of the sighting, rather than an independently established, exhaustive count of every public appearance.

Does the pub visit confirm they live in the Cotswolds?
No. A visit to a pub in the region establishes only that they were reported there that day; it does not establish where the family lives. In a September 7 report, The Guardian described a possible Cotswolds base as speculation and reported that a Sussex spokesperson declined to comment. The pub sighting does not resolve that question.
