The CHOICE listing identifies the product as discontinued and shows $55. That is the price recorded on its listing, not evidence of current stock or a live offer.

What AUTO does—and what it does not do
In AUTO mode, the NSC-650 starts on HIGH and switches to LOW once it reaches an adequate temperature. AUTO is not a timed shutoff or keep-warm cycle: the manual explicitly says, “the machine will NOT automatically turn off unless turn the control knob to OFF setting.” Turn the control to OFF when cooking is finished.

Cleaning and ceramic-pot precautions
- The removable ceramic pot is dishwasher-safe; the manual also says the pot and lid can be washed.
- Do not immerse the cooker base. Clean it by wiping.
- Do not put frozen or very cold food into the ceramic pot; the manual warns that it may crack.
- Avoid abrupt temperature changes, including putting the hot ceramic pot into cold water.
How strong is the performance evidence?
CHOICE’s public page provides specifications and marks the model discontinued, but its cooking and ease-of-use scores are available only to members. The existence of a review listing alone does not establish a test result, so public evidence does not support a definitive performance verdict.

ProductReview.com.au has mixed user comments for an ALDI Lumina NSC-650 entry, including positive remarks about results and value and complaints about size, lid or build, and overheating. Those are anecdotal reports about the Lumina-branded entry, not verified test results or necessarily the same configuration as the Maxim. They should not be treated as evidence of how the Maxim NSC-650 performs.
Availability and alternatives
Because CHOICE marks the Maxim discontinued, confirm any exact-model listing and its condition before buying; the recorded $55 is not a current offer. A Kmart Australia page lists a separate 6.5L slow cooker with a ceramic pot, high, low, and keep-warm settings, and a 12-month warranty. That is a category example, not an established successor or equivalent to the Maxim.

When assessing another 6.5L cooker, check its actual capacity, whether it automatically switches to keep-warm or shuts off, bowl material and cleaning instructions, dimensions and weight, warranty, current availability, and whether independent cooking results are published. The available information does not establish a winning alternative.
The Maxim’s ceramic pot and glass lid are removable, but compatible replacement parts and their availability are not established here. Do not assume a generic pot or lid will fit without confirming the model and dimensions.
