Eight Maverick Washington casino properties have been named in notices for potential closure on November 30, 2026, affecting a reported 850 workers. Those notices are conditional: Maverick says a new owner or operator could prevent a closure or delay it. The wider figure of 1,276 positions at risk combines these notices with separate Tukwila notices and earlier summer layoff rounds; it does not mean 1,276 confirmed future layoffs.

Which Washington casinos face potential closure?

MyNorthwest reported that Maverick Washington LLC notified the state about potential November 30, 2026 closures at eight properties, with 850 workers affected. The Washington WARN filing tracker’s site-level counts add to the same total. The named properties are:

  • Great American Casino in Everett
  • Chip’s Casino, Macau Casino, and Palace Casino in Lakewood
  • All Star Casino in Silverdale
  • Casino Caribbean in Yakima
  • Crazy Moose Casino in Pasco
  • Coyote Bobs Casino in Kennewick

The notices identify a possible closure date, not a confirmed shutdown. The tracker reproduces Employment Security Department records dated September 28; the individual letters were not independently reviewed in the reporting summarized here. MyNorthwest’s report and the Washington WARN tracker provide the cited announcement and filing context.

Why the headline says more than 1,200 jobs are at risk

The aggregate is 1,276 positions across three separate announcement groups. Their timing and status differ, so the total should be read as positions affected or at risk—not as a single group of confirmed future layoffs.

Announcement group Properties or locations Positions reported Timing and status
Eight potential closure notices Everett, Lakewood, Silverdale, Yakima, Pasco, and Kennewick 850 Potential closures effective November 30, 2026
Tukwila notices Riverside Casino (142) and Great American Casino (96) 238 Notices effective November 1, 2026
Summer layoff rounds SeaTac, Bothell, and Mountlake Terrace 188 Three rounds reported by KIRO/MyNorthwest
Total across the separate announcements 1,276 Combined figure; not all are confirmed upcoming job losses

The Tukwila count and effective date are reproduced by the filing tracker from state records dated August 31. KIRO/MyNorthwest reported the three summer rounds. Adding 850, 238, and 188 explains the “over 1,200” framing, but it combines potential closures with earlier layoff announcements. MyNorthwest and the state WARN search are the cited sources for these figures.

Could a new owner keep the casinos open?

Yes, according to the company’s notice language—but no buyer or replacement operator had been identified for the eight properties in the reports. Maverick Washington LLC Human Resources Director Christine Wisniewski said a site transition could mean that a listed closure “may not occur” or “could be delayed.” That makes the November 30 date conditional, not cancelled, and does not establish that a sale will happen.

Yogonet, citing The News Tribune, quoted Teamsters Local 117 Secretary-Treasurer Paul Dascher saying Maverick operations had changed hands during the process and other facilities could close or change hands in the coming months. He also said the union was working to ensure members were treated fairly. That is union context about the broader process, not confirmation of a transaction involving any of the eight named sites. Yogonet’s report carries Dascher’s comments.

How bankruptcy fits into the closures

KIRO/MyNorthwest reported that Maverick Gaming filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in Texas in July 2025 after a 2024 debt restructuring. The filing listed assets and liabilities in the $100 million to $500 million range. The company’s bankruptcy and any ownership or operator transitions are relevant to whether sites continue operating, but the available reports do not establish a successor for the eight properties.

As of October 1, 2026, KIRO/MyNorthwest reported that five locations had closed since April 2026. Separately, a 2025 bankruptcy declaration described a then-existing portfolio of 26 operating properties, approximately 2,500 slot machines, 320 table games, 1,200 hotel rooms, and 30 restaurants. Those figures describe the historical portfolio at the time of the filing, not the operator’s current footprint after subsequent closures and transitions. KIRO/MyNorthwest’s coverage and the bankruptcy declaration are the cited sources for this context.

What workers and local readers should watch next

  • Updated WARN information: The state Employment Security Department’s public WARN search is the place to check for changes to the notices or additional filings.
  • Operator or ownership announcements: A confirmed transition could change whether a property closes and when; the conditional notice alone does not show that a deal is in place.
  • Property-specific updates: Because the notices cover different sites and announcement periods, developments at one casino should not be assumed to apply to every location.
