Steam’s system requirements for Masters of Albion are the best starting point for checking your CPU, GPU, RAM, operating system, free space, and drive type. They describe a baseline, not a guarantee that a particular PC will run smoothly.
A 22cans developer acknowledged that the original requirements were too low to consistently deliver a stable 30 fps experience, which led to a revision. That comment helps explain why merely meeting an earlier minimum may not match your experience; it does not diagnose a specific PC’s problem. Identify which performance problem you have
“Poor performance” can mean several different things. Note whether the game runs at a consistently low frame rate, pauses briefly during play, closes unexpectedly, or takes a long time to load. Also record whether it affects one scene or the whole game, whether it began after an update, and whether it happens every time.
- Low frame rate: Check your CPU and graphics card against Steam’s tiers, and note the resolution and graphics settings you use.
- Stuttering: Record when the pauses occur and whether they are limited to a particular scene. The official material reviewed does not identify a single confirmed cause or universal stutter fix.
- Crashes: Note what you were doing immediately before the game closed, including whether the crash followed a settings change or an update. A past fix for one settings-related crash is not evidence that all current crashes share that cause.
- Long load times: Check whether the game is installed on a hard disk or an SSD, as well as whether your system meets the listed storage requirement.
What the official performance updates establish
22cans has described performance and stability as priorities, citing the challenge of combining close-up detail with large-scale simulation. That acknowledges the work involved but does not confirm why a given player’s game stutters or crashes. The studio’s Steam news and update posts are the place to check for later changes.

A crash after changing graphics quality settings was fixed in Update 1.2
Update 1.2 listed a fix for a crash that occurred after changing graphics quality settings. This documents a particular past bug; it does not mean changing graphics settings is generally unsafe, or that the same bug is present in the current version. If your crash began after changing a setting, note that detail when reporting it and check the latest patch notes.
The rendering system was overhauled, but results vary
In its New Beginnings update announcement, 22cans said it moved the game to a different rendering system and rebuilt or converted every in-game asset. The studio reported up to double the frame rate in its own tests, with gains varying by hardware, resolution, and graphics settings. Check storage if loading is the main complaint
Steam recommends an SSD, but the listing does not specify a drive interface, capacity, or model. If the game is installed on a hard disk, drive type is a relevant factor to check when investigating long loads. An SSD is not a guaranteed fix and should not be treated as a remedy for a CPU or GPU bottleneck, crashes, or every kind of stutter.
Prepare a useful report before seeking help
The official material does not provide a current, symptom-by-symptom troubleshooting checklist. As practical reporting steps, collect the details below before posting in the game’s official community channels or contacting support:
- The exact symptom: low frame rate, stutter, crash, or slow loading.
- When it happens, how often, and whether it began after an update or settings change.
- Your CPU, GPU, RAM, Windows version, free storage, and whether the game is on an SSD or hard disk.
- The game version and, for performance reports, your resolution and graphics settings.
Check the latest official patch notes as well: performance work has continued, so advice and results may change with updates and differ across PCs.
