MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls is available on PlayStation 5 and PC, with PC copies sold through Steam and the Epic Games Store. The game released on August 6, 2026 in most listed regions, with an August 7 release date in New Zealand, Australia, Japan, and South Korea. There are three digital tiers: Standard, Digital Deluxe, and Ultimate. A physical PS5 Standard Edition is also confirmed, and its owner can purchase Deluxe or Ultimate upgrade content through the PlayStation Store.
The practical choice is straightforward: buy Standard if you only need the base game, Digital Deluxe if you want the Year 1 Characters and Stage Pass, and Ultimate if you also want the listed launch-character costumes and animated color unlocks. PS5 online play requires PlayStation Plus; PC online features require an internet connection and a PlayStation account.

Platforms, storefronts, and release timing
MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls launched for two platform families:
- PlayStation 5: available digitally and as a confirmed physical Standard Edition.
- PC: available through Steam and the Epic Games Store.
PlayStation’s February 2026 announcement and current product information list August 6, 2026 as the release date. The same announcement gives August 7, 2026 for New Zealand, Australia, Japan, and South Korea. Those dates are regional calendar differences rather than separate platform launches. Since the release window has passed, a store page showing a purchase button, rather than a preorder button, is the relevant check for availability in your country.
#1 Best Overall
- Assemble your team of legendary Marvel characters in the ultimate 4v4 tag team fighter from PlayStation Studios, Arc System Works and Marvel Games.
- Experiment with team compositions to discover new combos, synergies, and strategies. Blast your way through dynamic stages based on iconic Marvel Universe locales, some featuring interactive stage transitions.
- Fighting is both immersive and intuitive, with a range of unique move sets, combos, and strategies to master. Adjustable controls, both traditional and quick inputs, plus easy chain combos make diving right in a breeze.
- Face off against a friend locally or join the fray with up to 64 players in the online lobby, including standard VS modes. Plus, dive deep on each team with the single player Episode Mode to learn more about team dynamics and lore.
The PC listing is not limited to one launcher. A Steam purchase and an Epic Games Store purchase are separate storefront transactions, so check which launcher you prefer before paying. The official information confirms both PC storefronts but does not establish cross-buy between them.
What editions does MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls have?
There are three officially described digital tiers. The US prices below are the announced MSRP and the prices currently displayed on the US PlayStation page; storefront prices can change and regional pricing differs.
| Edition | Included content | US price | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | Base game. A physical PS5 Standard Edition is confirmed. | $59.99 | Players who want the core game without bundled extras. |
| Digital Deluxe | Base game, Year 1 Characters and Stage Pass, Howard the Duck lobby avatar, and Cosmo lobby pet. | $84.99 | Players who want the announced post-launch character and stage content. |
| Ultimate | Everything in Digital Deluxe, plus five character costumes and animated color unlocks for all 20 launch characters. | $99.99 | Players who want the pass and the full listed cosmetic package. |
The prices imply a $25 difference between Standard and Digital Deluxe and a further $15 difference between Digital Deluxe and Ultimate in the US listing. That arithmetic describes the displayed bundle prices; it does not prove that every included item will cost the same amount when sold separately.
Standard Edition: what you actually get
Digital Standard
Standard is the base-game purchase. It is the appropriate tier if your priority is access to the launch roster, modes, training tools, and online play rather than bundled post-launch content or cosmetic extras. The official descriptions do not list a Standard-exclusive bonus.
Physical PS5 Standard
The official MARVEL Tōkon support FAQ confirms a physical PS5 Standard Edition. The same FAQ says physical Standard owners can buy Digital Deluxe or Ultimate upgrade content from the PlayStation Store. This gives disc buyers a route to the higher-tier content without purchasing the base game again.
No physical Deluxe Edition or physical Ultimate Edition is established by the official information. Treat listings that use those labels cautiously until the retailer or publisher provides a clear, region-specific description. The available evidence also does not establish a collector’s edition or other physical merchandise bundle.
Digital Deluxe: the pass-focused option
Digital Deluxe contains the base game plus the Year 1 Characters and Stage Pass. The official descriptions specify that the pass adds:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
- Four additional playable characters released after launch.
- One new playable stage released after launch.
- Battle result poses identified in the official FAQ.
Deluxe also includes two lobby items: a Howard the Duck lobby avatar and a Cosmo lobby pet. These are presentation and social-space extras rather than additional playable fighters.
The pass is the key reason to step up from Standard. If you already know you want access to all four announced post-launch characters and the additional stage, compare the Deluxe bundle’s $84.99 US price with the separate pass and upgrade prices shown in your local store. The official sources establish that separate add-ons exist on the US PlayStation page, but they do not provide a universal add-on price, so a precise savings claim would depend on your region and purchase date.
Rank #2
- Assemble your team of legendary Marvel characters in the ultimate 4v4 tag team fighter from PlayStation Studios, Arc System Works and Marvel Games.
- It’s time to build your dream team and break some spirits in blistering 4v4 fighting action.
Ultimate Edition: what the extra $15 covers
Ultimate includes all Digital Deluxe content, then adds a cosmetic package:
- Five character costumes.
- Animated color unlocks for all 20 launch characters.
The 20-character figure refers to the launch roster described by PlayStation, not the four post-launch characters in the Year 1 pass. The official description does not specify which characters receive the five costumes, their visual themes, or whether any costume changes gameplay. Do not buy Ultimate expecting extra fighters beyond the four included in the pass; the tier’s additional value over Deluxe is the listed costume and animated-color content.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteUltimate is therefore a preference-based purchase. It makes sense for players who collect cosmetics, plan to use several launch characters, or want every item named in the highest digital tier. Standard and Deluxe provide the same underlying game access; the official material does not claim an Ultimate-only mode, performance setting, or gameplay advantage.
Regional prices and currency differences
The February 2026 announcement gives these launch prices in selected currencies:
| Edition | US | Euro price listed in announcement | Yen price listed in announcement |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | $59.99 | €69.99 | ¥7,980 |
| Digital Deluxe | $84.99 | €94.99 | ¥10,480 |
| Ultimate | $99.99 | €109.99 | ¥11,980 |
These are announcement figures, while the US figures are also displayed on the current US PlayStation page. They are not a promise that your local store will show the same converted amount. Taxes, local pricing policy, currency changes, discounts, and platform promotions can alter the checkout total. Use the store for your account’s country as the final authority.
Is there a physical PS5 version?
Yes. The official support FAQ confirms a physical PS5 Standard Edition. It also confirms a digital upgrade route: physical Standard owners can purchase Digital Deluxe or Ultimate upgrade content through the PlayStation Store.

It does not establish a physical Deluxe or Ultimate package, a disc containing the Year 1 pass, or a boxed collector’s edition. If a retailer advertises a physical bundle with a different name, verify exactly whether it contains the Standard disc plus a voucher, a separate digital code, or only retailer-selected extras.
Digital PS5 buyers can select any of the three tiers directly from the PlayStation Store. PC buyers choose between Steam and the Epic Games Store versions; the official material does not describe a boxed PC edition.
Do I need PlayStation Plus?
PS5 online play
Yes. On PS5, online play requires an internet connection and an active PlayStation Plus subscription. This requirement applies to online features, not to every mode in the game.
Rank #3
- Assemble your team of legendary Marvel characters in the ultimate 4v4 tag team fighter from PlayStation Studios, Arc System Works and Marvel Games.
- It’s time to build your dream team and break some spirits in blistering 4v4 fighting action. Choose from an expanding roster of 20 iconic Marvel characters at launch, each rendered in a bold new anime-inspired art style and members of their own unique teams of equally impressive heroes and villains.
PC online play
PC online features require an internet connection and a PlayStation account. The official information does not say that a PlayStation Plus subscription is required for PC online play. A PlayStation account is therefore a PC requirement even when you buy the game through Steam or the Epic Games Store.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Offline access
The official FAQ lists these offline modes and resources:
- Episode Mode.
- Local Versus.
- Training Mode.
- All-Star Arena.
- Battle Guides.
- Character Guides.
These modes do not require the relevant online account. You still need to install the game and meet your platform’s normal system and software requirements, but the listed modes are designed to remain usable without online access.
Cross-play and controller compatibility
PlayStation states that PS5 and PC cross-play is supported. That means eligible online matches can connect players across those two platform versions. The announcement and product page do not establish cross-progression, shared purchases between storefronts, or transfer of cosmetic ownership, so do not assume those features from cross-play alone.
PS5-compatible arcade sticks and leverless controllers can be used. They are optional: the official material does not require a particular controller type or model. A standard gamepad is sufficient to start, while an arcade stick or leverless controller is an equipment choice for players who prefer that control layout.

How to compare the purchase options
Start by separating access from extras. Every tier contains the base game, so Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate are not different gameplay builds or platform versions. The first meaningful price jump buys the Year 1 Characters and Stage Pass, while the second adds costumes and animated colors. If you are undecided about post-launch content, Standard avoids paying for a pass you may never use.
Next, match the purchase to the hardware you actually use. A digital PS5 license is tied to PlayStation Store purchasing, while the physical option is a PS5 disc. On PC, Steam and Epic Games Store are distinct purchases and the official information does not promise that a purchase on one launcher transfers to the other. Cross-play lets PS5 and PC players meet online, but it does not establish cross-buy or cross-progression.
Finally, check the exact product description before checkout. Confirm the platform, edition name, included pass, and whether a listed bonus is a current offer or an old preorder reference. Prices and add-on availability can change by country, so compare the local store total rather than converting the US MSRP yourself.
PS5 or PC: which platform fits?
PS5 is the straightforward choice for buyers who want a disc option, couch play, or access through the PlayStation ecosystem. Remember that ranked or other online features require PlayStation Plus, even though the offline modes remain available without that subscription.

- Plunge into fast-paced battles that test your skills and are influenced by team synergies and strategies.
- Choose 4 characters for your team from numerous legendary Marvel heroes and villains, each with unique skills, play styles and a comprehensive backstory.

- Experience MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls on PS5 with ultra-fast charging times, brilliant 4K graphics, immersive 3D audio and the tactile feedback of the DualSense wireless controller, bringing every hit, impact and explosive moment in battle to life.
PC offers two storefront choices and does not have the stated PlayStation Plus requirement for online features. It does require an internet connection and a PlayStation account for those features. Players who already use a fight stick or leverless controller should check that it is PS5-compatible when buying for console; PlayStation explicitly confirms compatibility for those controller categories but does not require any particular model.
Both versions participate in cross-play. The official details do not provide PC system requirements, a boxed PC release, or a guarantee that DLC ownership follows you between Steam and Epic, so those questions should be checked on the individual store page.
Which edition should you buy?
Choose Standard when
- You want the lowest-cost entry to the base game.
- You are unsure whether you will continue into post-launch content.
- You are buying the physical PS5 disc and would rather add content later.
- Cosmetic bonuses do not matter to you.
Choose Digital Deluxe when
- You want the four additional Year 1 playable characters and one additional stage.
- You prefer to secure the pass as part of the initial purchase.
- You like the Howard the Duck lobby avatar, Cosmo lobby pet, or battle result poses.
- You are buying digitally and do not need a physical disc.
Choose Ultimate when
- You want the Year 1 pass and the five listed costumes.
- You value animated color unlocks for all 20 launch characters.
- You expect to spend time customizing several fighters and want the complete announced digital package.
The official sources describe the contents but do not declare one tier to be the best value for every player. Your decision comes down to whether the pass and cosmetics justify the price above Standard in your store.

- When you decide to add content, open the PlayStation Store and look for the Digital Deluxe or Ultimate upgrade content associated with the game.

The FAQ confirms the availability of the upgrade route, but it does not publish one universal upgrade price. Store listings can differ by country and can change after launch.
Preorder bonuses: do not assume they are still available
The February 2026 announcement described preorder incentives: Infinity Gauntlet lobby equipment, a Baby Groot lobby pet, and a Cosmic Surfboard lobby ride. It also said that an account and internet connection were required to redeem incentives and that some unlocks could require progression.
The game has now passed its preorder period. Those items should not be treated as automatically included in a new purchase. Availability, if any, depends on the local retailer or digital storefront. A current listing must explicitly state that a bonus is included; an old announcement alone is not evidence that the offer remains active.
What is known about the game’s team system
The game director and lead battle designer at Arc System Works, Kazuto Sekine, described the intended accessibility of the team format this way: “Generally, a team VS fighting game requires the player to learn multiple characters, but for MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, you only need to master one character in order to play the game.”
This is the developer’s explanation of the design goal, not a guarantee that every new player will find the game easy. It does explain why the edition decision is not tied to learning the entire roster: the base game is designed around choosing and mastering a character within a team-based fighting structure.
Best Value

What the official information does not establish
Several purchase questions remain outside the confirmed edition descriptions:
- No physical Deluxe or Ultimate Edition is confirmed.
- No collector’s edition or merchandise package is established.
- No universal price for the separate pass or upgrade add-ons is provided.
- No cross-progression or cross-buy between PS5, Steam, and the Epic Games Store is stated.
- No particular arcade stick or leverless controller model is required or endorsed.
These are not claims that such products or features can never exist; they are boundaries on what the official buying information currently confirms.
Bottom line
For most buyers, the choice is governed by content rather than platform: Standard is the base game, Digital Deluxe adds the Year 1 pass and lobby items, and Ultimate adds five costumes plus animated colors for all 20 launch characters. PS5 and PC versions support cross-play, but PS5 online play needs PlayStation Plus while PC online features need a PlayStation account and internet access. A physical PS5 Standard disc is available with a confirmed path to buy Deluxe or Ultimate upgrades later.
