There is no publisher-issued “best” Marvel Rivals preset. NetEase does not publish a universal value for every graphics option or a frame-cost chart, so the safest starting point is to run the game’s Performance Test on PC, then tune one change at a time for your hardware, display and goal. On console, the biggest performance decision is whether your setup meets the requirements for High Frame Rate (HFR) mode.
For clearer fights, use the documented Team-Up VFX and custom Ultimate Ability VFX visibility controls to reduce local effects. Treat upscaling, frame generation and every other graphics value as hardware- and patch-dependent. A setting that raises frame rate can lower image quality or add latency, while a lower-quality preset is not guaranteed to make enemy models easier to see in every scene.

What “best settings” can—and cannot—mean
Marvel Rivals players usually want one of three outcomes: a steadier frame rate, less input delay, or a cleaner picture in crowded fights. Those goals overlap, but they are not identical. A frame-generation mode may increase the displayed frame count without reducing the time your inputs take to reach the game. Upscaling can improve performance while changing fine image detail. Cutting visual effects can reduce clutter without increasing the underlying frame rate.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- For smoothness: measure your system first, then target a frame rate it can hold during large team fights rather than a number it reaches only in empty areas.
- For visibility: use the game’s documented effect-visibility switches. Do not assume that every low-quality option improves enemy readability.
- For low latency: prioritize a stable render pipeline and a refresh rate your display can actually show. Frame generation and a high on-screen FPS counter are not the same as lower latency.
PC: begin with the in-game Performance Test
Run the test before changing a long list of options
The current settings guide identifies the Performance Test as the strongest documented starting point for PC. It evaluates your hardware and recommends graphics settings. The recommendation feature was added in Season 3.5, and its CPU measurement was improved in Season 5.
- Start Marvel Rivals and open the game’s Display menu.
- Open Settings within the Display section and choose Performance Test.
- Let the test finish without switching applications or changing settings midway.
- Apply the recommendation, then play a real match or the practice range. A benchmark result is only a starting point; heavy fights can behave differently from the test scene.
Record how the game feels before making further changes. Note average smoothness, sudden pauses, image clarity at your normal viewing distance and whether the problem appears only during effects-heavy team fights. This baseline prevents you from “fixing” a stutter by changing several unrelated settings at once.
Use an incremental tuning loop
Change one setting or one related group, restart the game if it requests a restart, and test in the same type of scene. Keep a short note of the old and new value. If a change does not solve the original symptom, revert it before trying another. This is more reliable than copying a preset made for a different GPU, resolution or patch.

Reduce stutter carefully
Shader Compilation Mode
NetEase describes Shader Compilation Mode as experimental. Its intended benefits are lower memory use and less stuttering, particularly on systems with 16 GB of RAM or less. The option is exposed as Switch Shader Compilation Mode in the game launcher, not as a normal in-match graphics slider.

- Close the game if it is running.
- Open the Marvel Rivals launcher and locate Switch Shader Compilation Mode.
- Enable it only if you want to test the experimental path, especially when memory pressure or shader-related pauses are your main complaint.
- Launch the game and repeat the same scenario you used for your baseline.
- Keep it only if stutter and overall responsiveness improve. Disable it if pauses become more frequent or if the game behaves less consistently.
There is an important exception: NetEase warns that systems with low-thread-count CPUs can experience occasional additional stutters when this mode is combined with AMD FSR3 Frame Generation. If you use both and notice new hitching, test with frame generation off first, then test Shader Compilation Mode separately. Do not conclude that either feature is faulty until you have isolated the combination.
Upscaling and frame generation
The game supports technologies associated with NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR and Intel XeSS, but availability and behavior can vary by graphics hardware and patch. Select only a mode your system exposes, and compare it at the resolution and refresh rate you actually use.
- Use an upscaler when your graphics card is the limiting component and the reconstructed image remains readable at your chosen resolution.
- Use frame generation only after the game already has a reasonably stable base frame rate. It can make motion appear smoother, but it does not replace a faster base render pipeline.
- If you have a low-thread-count CPU, treat AMD FSR3 Frame Generation as a separate experiment when Shader Compilation Mode is enabled because of the documented stutter caveat.
- Check the current menu after major patches. A feature shown in one guide or on one GPU may be unavailable, renamed or changed in a later build.
Do not add registry edits, configuration-file modifications or launch flags based on unverified optimization lists. The documented route is the in-game Performance Test and the settings the current build actually exposes.

Use the documented controls that reduce visual clutter
Team-Up VFX
The Team-Up VFX toggle controls those effects on your own screen. Turning it off removes the Team-Up effects you see locally; it does not remove them from the screens of other players. This makes it a useful clutter-control option when coordinated abilities cover the center of the fight, but it is not a general enemy-visibility setting and does not prove that every combat situation will become easier to read.

Custom Ultimate Ability VFX
NetEase’s September 2025 notes added a separate choice to show or hide other players’ custom Ultimate Ability effects. Use this setting when customized effects make it difficult to identify the battlefield information you need. It is distinct from Team-Up VFX: changing one does not necessarily change the other.
Why broad “visibility presets” are unreliable
The publisher has not documented a complete mapping of graphics options to enemy readability. In particular, there is no current official evidence that disabling shadows, post-processing, motion blur or another unspecified option will make enemies easier to see in all scenes. Those changes may alter the picture or improve performance on a particular system, but they should be tested as individual trade-offs rather than advertised as a universal visibility fix.
Balance image quality, frame rate and latency
Choose a priority before you tune. The table below describes the decision rather than prescribing a single value.
| If your priority is… | Start with… | Watch for… |
|---|---|---|
| Competitive responsiveness | Performance Test recommendation, then a stable target your display can sustain; remove distracting local VFX | Blurred reconstruction, unstable frame times or a frame-generation latency increase |
| Maximum image detail | Keep native or higher-quality rendering where your GPU can hold the desired frame rate; reduce effects only when they obscure information | Fight-time drops that feel worse than the visual improvement |
| Memory-related stutter | Test the experimental Shader Compilation Mode, particularly with 16 GB RAM or less | Extra pauses on low-thread CPUs, especially with AMD FSR3 Frame Generation |
| Less local clutter | Team-Up VFX and the custom Ultimate Ability VFX visibility controls | Assuming these switches alter what teammates or opponents see |
After each adjustment, test camera turns, rapid movement, a crowded objective and an effects-heavy ultimate sequence. A setting that looks excellent in a quiet practice area can fail during the exact moment where consistency matters most.

Console settings and HFR requirements
Which consoles are covered
The reviewed guide attributes the HFR requirement to the official FAQ: PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro and Xbox Series X support HFR mode at up to 120 FPS when paired with a 120 Hz display and an HDMI 2.1 connection. This is a display-and-connection requirement, not a guarantee that every television, monitor, cable or configuration will deliver the same result. The cited requirement does not establish equivalent HFR support for every other console model.
| Platform | HFR information reported by the guide | What you must verify |
|---|---|---|
| PlayStation 5 | HFR mode at 120 FPS with a 120 Hz display and HDMI 2.1 | Display refresh capability, HDMI input, cable and console video-output settings |
| PlayStation 5 Pro | HFR mode at 120 FPS with a 120 Hz display and HDMI 2.1 | The same display and connection compatibility checks |
| Xbox Series X | HFR mode at 120 FPS with a 120 Hz display and HDMI 2.1 | The same display and connection compatibility checks |
Set up and verify HFR
- Confirm that the screen has a 120 Hz mode and that the relevant HDMI input supports the required bandwidth.
- Use an HDMI 2.1 connection where the console and display requirement calls for it.
- Enable the console’s 120 Hz output in its system video settings, if the console presents that option.
- Open Marvel Rivals and look for the HFR option in the display settings.
- Play a real match and check for stable motion. If HFR is unavailable, recheck the display input, cable, output resolution and the exact console model before changing unrelated graphics options.
A 120 Hz panel can show up to 120 refreshes per second, but the game, console output and connection all have to agree on the mode. A television marketed as 120 Hz may still have limitations on a particular HDMI port or resolution, so check the manufacturer’s specifications for that input.
Console input controls are not graphics controls
NetEase’s April 2025 console notes document vertical deadzone sensitivity, acceleration delay, movement-stick deadzones and trigger deadzones. These options change how controller input is interpreted; they do not increase resolution, remove effects or enable HFR. Adjust them only for an input symptom such as unwanted stick movement, delayed acceleration or a trigger that activates too easily.
- Stick drift: increase the relevant movement-stick deadzone gradually until the unwanted movement stops, then test fine aim.
- Slow response: review acceleration delay and vertical deadzone sensitivity in small increments rather than changing every control at once.
- Trigger activation: use trigger deadzone controls when the issue concerns activation travel, not display performance.
Practical starting points by player goal
PC: you want the most consistent fights
- Run Display > Settings > Performance Test and apply its recommendation.
- Play a team fight and note whether the problem is a low average frame rate, uneven frame time or a pause when effects appear.
- If memory pressure is suspected and the machine has 16 GB RAM or less, test the experimental Shader Compilation Mode.
- Keep AMD FSR3 Frame Generation off during the first comparison on a low-thread-count CPU; add it only as a separate test.
- Use Team-Up VFX and custom Ultimate Ability VFX visibility controls if effects, rather than rendering speed, are obscuring the action.
PC: you want a sharper picture
- Start with the Performance Test recommendation instead of immediately selecting a community preset.
- Choose the highest-quality rendering path your GPU can sustain in a crowded match.
- Compare any available DLSS, FSR or XeSS mode at your normal resolution. Keep the one that preserves the detail you need without unacceptable frame-time drops.
- Test frame generation separately and judge responsiveness as well as the FPS counter.
Console: you want smoother motion
- Confirm that your PS5, PS5 Pro or Xbox Series X is connected to a compatible 120 Hz display through the required HDMI 2.1 path.
- Enable 120 Hz output at the system level, then select HFR in the game if the option appears.
- Test a real match, not only a menu or quiet area.
- If HFR does not appear or is unstable, verify the display input and console output before changing controller deadzones or visual-effect settings.
Any platform: you want less visual clutter
- Disable Team-Up VFX if those local effects block the action.
- Use the separate custom Ultimate Ability VFX visibility choice for other players’ customized effects.
- Leave unrelated graphics options unchanged until you know whether clutter or frame-time instability is the real problem.
Troubleshooting common symptoms
The game still stutters after lowering quality
Lower graphics quality mainly helps when the GPU is the bottleneck. If pauses are caused by shader work, memory pressure or a CPU limit, lowering unrelated image-quality options may not solve them. Re-run the Performance Test, compare frame-time behavior in the same fight and test Shader Compilation Mode according to the launcher procedure. On a low-thread-count CPU, test without AMD FSR3 Frame Generation before combining the two features.

The FPS counter is high but controls feel delayed
Separate displayed frames from input response. Frame generation can add a latency trade-off, and an unstable base frame rate can still feel poor. Compare with frame generation disabled, keep a stable target your display can sustain and judge movement and aim directly rather than relying only on the counter.
Enemies are still hard to identify
First determine whether effects are covering them or whether the picture is simply too soft at your resolution and viewing distance. Use the Team-Up VFX and custom Ultimate Ability VFX controls for the documented clutter cases. There is no publisher-documented universal combination of shadows, post-processing or other quality sliders that guarantees clearer enemy models, so test any such change individually and revert it if it harms detail.
HFR is missing on console
Check the console model, display refresh mode, HDMI input and cable. The reported requirement is a 120 Hz display with HDMI 2.1 for PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X. A 60 Hz port, an incompatible resolution setting or a display that exposes 120 Hz only on another input can prevent the option from appearing.

Keep settings aligned with the current patch
Menus and supported technologies can change. The official Steam announcement archive visibly lists a Version 20261001 entry dated October 1, 2026. A current settings guide cites a Version 20261009 Season 10.5 patch, but the accessible archive excerpt does not expose those settings details for independent confirmation. Do not attribute a particular graphics change to Season 10.5 unless you have checked that patch’s own entry.
After a major update, verify the names and locations of Performance Test, Shader Compilation Mode, HFR and the visual-effect toggles in your installation. If a recommendation from an older guide conflicts with the current menu, the current in-game option and the latest official note take precedence.
Quick Recap
Quick checklist
- Run Display > Settings > Performance Test on PC before manual tuning.
- Measure frame-time consistency during real fights, not only peak FPS in a quiet area.
- Test the experimental launcher Shader Compilation Mode when memory use or shader stutter is the problem, especially with 16 GB RAM or less.
- Beware of the documented extra-stutter possibility when a low-thread-count CPU combines that mode with AMD FSR3 Frame Generation.
- Use Team-Up VFX and custom Ultimate Ability VFX visibility controls for local clutter.
- Do not promise that disabling broad graphics categories makes enemies easier to see; the publisher has not documented that result.
- For console HFR, verify a 120 Hz display and HDMI 2.1 on PS5, PS5 Pro or Xbox Series X, then confirm the complete signal path.
- Treat deadzone, acceleration-delay and trigger settings as controller controls, not graphics options.
- Recheck the current patch before copying any exact menu advice.
