Marriott Bonvoy Bevy American Express Card Review: Rewards, Benefits, and $250 Fee

The Marriott Bonvoy Bevy American Express Card can suit travelers who regularly stay at participating Marriott hotels and will use its status, hotel earning, and annual Free Night Award. It costs $250 a year, however, and the award requires $15,000 in eligible annual card spending. Whether it is worthwhile depends on how much you value benefits you will actually use—not the advertised value of every perk.

What the Bevy card costs and earns

The card has a $250 annual fee, according to American Express’s U.S. product page and its cardmember agreement effective March 31, 2026. Its rewards are most concentrated in Marriott stays, dining, and U.S. supermarket purchases.

Eligible purchase Points earned Important limit or condition
Purchases at participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels 6 points per dollar Eligible transactions must meet the card terms.
Restaurants worldwide and U.S. supermarkets 4 points per dollar Applies to up to $15,000 in combined calendar-year spending across these categories; then 2 points per dollar.
Other eligible purchases 2 points per dollar Eligibility is determined by the card terms and merchant classification.

American Express explains that the hotel rate includes the card’s base earning plus additional points on eligible direct Marriott purchases. The transaction must qualify under the issuer’s terms; a purchase merely related to travel is not necessarily a qualifying Marriott hotel purchase.

What benefits come with the card

Gold Elite status

Eligible cardmembers receive complimentary Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status under the card and loyalty-program terms. Status can make a stay more rewarding, but it does not guarantee an upgrade or late checkout; those benefits depend on Bonvoy rules and availability. See the American Express benefits listing for current card details.

Elite Night Credits and paid-stay bonus

The card provides 15 Elite Night Credits each calendar year, subject to account conditions. These credits help members progress toward Bonvoy elite status; they are not themselves a status tier. Cardmembers can also earn 1,000 bonus points per paid eligible stay booked directly with Marriott at participating properties, subject to the benefit terms.

Free Night Award after eligible spending

American Express says cardmembers can earn one Free Night Award after spending $15,000 on eligible purchases during a calendar year. It covers one night at a participating Bonvoy property costing 50,000 points or fewer. Availability, exclusions, program rules, and some resort fees apply, so the certificate is useful only if you can find a property and date that suit your plans within that redemption limit. The issuer’s benefit terms govern how it can be used.

How to decide whether the $250 fee is worth paying

Start with the annual fee, then count only benefits you expect to use. The issuer’s terms do not establish a universal point value or a typical break-even calculation, so your result depends on your stays, spending, and redemption options.

  1. Estimate usable hotel benefits. Consider how often you stay at participating Marriott properties and whether Gold status and 15 Elite Night Credits matter for your travel plans. Do not assign a value to upgrades or late checkout as though either were guaranteed.
  2. Calculate points from eligible spending. Apply the stated earning rates to purchases that qualify, not to all spending by default. Check whether your combined restaurant and U.S. supermarket spending approaches the $15,000 calendar-year cap.
  3. Count the Free Night Award only if it is realistic. Include it in your estimate only if you can reach $15,000 in eligible annual card spending through spending you would make anyway and can use an available participating property within the 50,000-point ceiling.
  4. Compare the result with your alternatives. Weigh the benefits you can actually use against $250 and against the rewards you could earn on ordinary spending with another card. No single card is best for every traveler.

A frequent Marriott guest who values the status and credits, earns meaningful points on eligible purchases, and can use the certificate may find the fee easier to justify. Someone who stays only occasionally, spends far below the certificate threshold, or cannot use the award may get less from the card than its headline benefits suggest.

Other terms to check before applying

The cardmember agreement effective March 31, 2026 lists no foreign transaction fee and a variable purchase APR of Prime Rate plus 12.74% to Prime Rate plus 21.74%. The rate is variable, and the agreement is dated; check the current card page and agreement for terms in effect when you apply. Carrying a balance can outweigh the value of rewards.

Welcome offers can change and may depend on eligibility. Check the offer displayed on the application page when applying rather than treating a particular bonus as a permanent card feature.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
