A Slickdeals listing reported the Sailor Moon Naoko Takeuchi Collection Manga Box Set Vol. 1–6 at $39.34, while a Reddit user reported the Tokyo Ghoul box set at $48. Treat both as event-period price snapshots—not confirmed live offers or historical lows—and check each Amazon listing’s price history before buying.
What the October 2026 event does—and doesn’t—confirm
Amazon calls its fall shopping event Prime Big Deal Days. The U.S. event is a 48-hour sale running October 6–7, 2026, and Amazon says many deals are at its lowest prices of the year so far. That is broad event language; it does not verify an annual low for every product or for the manga sets mentioned here. Amazon’s event announcement also notes that deals and availability can change.

Amazon’s official deal roundup highlights book discounts, including 60% off a Jack Carr boxed set and a Stephen King boxed set, but the cited roundup does not name manga box sets. Those examples are not evidence of a discount on a particular manga listing. Amazon’s roundup is useful for event context, not for validating the prices below.

Manga box set prices reported during the event
These are third-party and community reports, not live checks of Amazon product pages. Price, seller, stock, shipping, and Prime eligibility may have changed since each report.
#1 Best Overall
| Set | Reported price | What the report establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Sailor Moon Naoko Takeuchi Collection Manga Box Set Vol. 1–6 | $39.34 | Slickdeals listed this Amazon price on October 6, 2026. It is a dated price snapshot, not proof of a current offer or annual low. See the Slickdeals listing. |
| Tokyo Ghoul box set | $48 | A Reddit user reported this price in an event thread. It is a community report, not a verified Amazon listing or price-history record. See the event discussion. |
The reports do not provide enough consistent detail to compare the sets by included volumes, extras, or price per volume. Confirm the exact edition and contents on the product page before judging whether either offer fits what you want.
How to check whether a manga set is really at a year-low
- Open the exact Amazon product page for the edition you plan to buy. Similar editions or bundles can have different contents and price histories.
- Look for Price History on the product page. Amazon says eligible items can show up to 365 days of pricing; not every product is necessarily eligible. Read Amazon’s Price History guide.
- Compare the current price with that item’s displayed history. A year-low claim needs evidence that the current price is below the prices shown for the relevant period; an event badge or a single reported price does not establish that.
- Before checkout, confirm the seller, stock, shipping cost, and whether the offer qualifies for Prime. Check the final checkout price, since listing details and availability can change.
What makes one box set a better buy
Once the price is verified, compare the total cost with the exact volumes and extras included. If the contents are clear, divide the total price by the number of included volumes to calculate cost per volume; treat that as a simple comparison, not a measure of edition quality or completeness. Also account for shipping and any differences between the versions being compared.
Rank #2
Neither the $39.34 nor the $48 report, by itself, shows that a set is cheaper than its own recent prices or the best value among editions. Amazon’s price-history view and the live listing are the relevant checks for a specific purchase.
