Current third-party Aion 2 guides report that socketed stats are lost when gear is transferred, making expensive stones a poor default for temporary leveling equipment. The best choice still depends on your region’s live rules, your build, and whether you focus on PvE or PvP.
What manastones add—and what they do not
Manastones add rolled stats to weapons and armor; soulstones serve accessories. According to the current Aion Xt o polis guide, each row rolls a stat and quality independently, so duplicate stats can occur. Available stat pools vary by tier, and Abyssal stones use a different pool from regular stones.

This makes socketing a way to tune an item rather than a substitute for improving the item itself. A desirable roll can suit a build, but it is still attached to the gear and carries transfer risk.

Should you use manastones now or wait until endgame?
If you expect to replace or transfer the item soon, usually wait before spending scarce or valuable stones. The manastone guide reports that engraved stats are lost on gear transfer, and Aion 2 Maps, updated September 28, 2026, similarly advises saving stones for gear you intend to keep.

For gear you expect to retain, socketing becomes more reasonable: you are less likely to lose the investment in a transition, and the chosen stats can be matched to your character’s role. Check the transfer behavior in your own regional client before committing rare materials; the cited third-party guides do not establish that every regional version behaves identically.
Do manastones transfer to new gear in Aion 2?
Current third-party guides report that socketed or engraved manastone stats are lost when gear is transferred. Treat that as the working caution, not as a guaranteed rule for every region or patch. Confirm the transfer screen and current local-client description before acting, especially when rare stones are involved.

What should you upgrade first in Aion 2?
There is no reliable universal break-even point between enhancement and manastones in the available guidance. Enhancement advances the gear itself, while stones add rolled stats; compare the options for the specific item, your planned gear transition, and the resources you can afford to spend.

Favor progression that remains useful through your planned transition, after checking the actual transfer rules.
- Durable core gear: compare enhancement with socketing. Enhance first if it is the more dependable progression option for that item; use stones to tune the stats your build needs. Neither route is established as universally superior.
- PvP-focused gear: consider Abyssal stones, whose reported pool includes PvP stats, and weigh those rolls against the alternatives.
- PvE-focused gear: choose a non-Abyssal pool when its available stats better suit your build. Check live rolls and values rather than assuming fixed odds or amounts.
How enhancement differs from manastone investment
Enhancement and socketing are separate systems. A September 24, 2026 Aion 2 Database guide based on client data describes grade-dependent enhancement caps and amplification beyond +15 for unique gear. Those are reported mechanics, not a guarantee of parity across regions or later patches, so verify the item’s current options and limits in your client.

A separate Aion2.help overview also treats enhancement as its own gear progression system and notes that costs scale. Since the sources do not establish comparable universal material costs or returns, make the decision using the actual costs and effects shown for your gear rather than a blanket upgrade formula.
Choose stones by activity and build
For PvP
Abyssal stones are worth considering when their PvP-oriented stats fit your role. Their different stat pool means they are not simply a stronger version of regular stones; compare the available rolls and the value of those stats for your build.
For PvE
Regular stones may be a better fit when their stat pool supports your PvE priorities. Because rows roll independently and duplicates can occur, inspect the live options before spending; do not rely on unverified odds or assume every socket will produce a different stat.
Why the answer can change by region and patch
Aion 2’s progression systems can change: NCSoft’s official May 27, 2026 update announced a new sanctuary, “Chalice of Muspel.” That update is context for ongoing changes, not evidence for specific manastone transfer rules. The detailed socket and enhancement mechanics cited here come from third-party guides, including one explicitly based on client data; verify the relevant behavior in your own client before spending.
