A man died during an Indian Air Force helicopter relief operation in flood-hit Saran district, Bihar, on October 2, 2026. Hindustan Times reported that relief material allegedly struck the flood-displaced man; The Indian Express also reported conflicting local accounts, including that he may have suffered a heart attack. Police were awaiting a post-mortem report, so the cause of death has not been established in the available reporting.
What was reported in Saran district
Hindustan Times reported that a 58-year-old flood-displaced man died during the aerial relief operation. The outlet said a woman and two children were injured in a separate incident during the same operation. These are outlet-reported details, not figures independently confirmed by an official finding in the available accounts.

Why the cause of death remains uncertain
The Indian Express reported that the man was waiting for relief material in Parshurampur village. Local accounts differed: some residents said supplies fell on him, while others said he died of a heart attack. Police were awaiting the post-mortem report to determine the cause. The reports therefore do not establish that a relief package caused his death.

A separate report of an injury
The Indian Express also described another villager being injured after helicopter downdraft blew away part of a structure. The available reporting does not confirm whether that person was among the woman and two children mentioned by Hindustan Times, so the accounts should not be treated as the same incident.
