The case was adjourned at Cork District Court because directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions were not yet available.
What the court report says
The Irish Examiner reported on October 1, 2026, that Lee Cronin, 37, was charged with burglary. The report says the case was adjourned for directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions and that Judge David Waters remanded him in continuing custody until October 14. The newspaper noted on October 2 that it had edited the article to remove additional detail.
What is alleged about the incident
During an earlier bail objection at Cork District Court, Garda Sergeant Aisling Murphy alleged that CCTV showed Cronin entering the property’s curtilage at about 7am on August 25. She said he tried to enter two vehicles in the driveway, then approached the house and reached through a window to open it. The report said a very young girl was asleep in the room, the mother shouted, and the accused ran when the owners appeared.
The newspaper reproduced Sergeant Murphy’s statement as: “It is alleged that he tried to enter the two vehicles in the driveway and then approached the house and put his hand inside the window to open the window of the house. There was a very young girl asleep in the room and he attempted to get in.” This is an allegation reported from an earlier bail objection, not a court finding that the events occurred.

What is known about the child and the next court step
The report says the girl was asleep in the room, but does not report that she was harmed. It gives no later outcome for the case; the next date stated in the report is October 14, when Cronin was due to remain in custody.
