Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesTo get a Malawian IP address, connect through a VPN exit location that is currently available and geolocated as Malawi, then check the public IP it assigns. The reviewed sources do not confirm a consumer VPN with a selectable Malawi exit server: IPinfo’s current Malawi page reports “No VPNs detected in Malawi,” and Telleport says its regional servers are “coming soon.” Confirm availability with a provider before subscribing; being able to use a VPN while in Malawi does not mean it can give you a Malawi IP.
What a Malawi IP requires
A VPN changes the route your internet traffic takes. Websites generally see the public IP address at the VPN exit, rather than the one assigned by your local internet provider. To appear to connect from Malawi, the VPN therefore needs an exit IP that the relevant geolocation systems identify as Malawian.

Two different capabilities are easy to confuse: a VPN service may let you connect while you are physically in Malawi, yet route your traffic through another country. That can be useful for privacy or connectivity, but it does not give you a Malawi exit IP. Telleport’s page makes this distinction directly: it says regional servers are “coming soon” while users can still use the service from Malawi, potentially through a nearby supported country. Telleport’s Malawi page
How to find and verify a Malawi exit
- Ask the provider about the specific location. Confirm that “Malawi” is currently selectable in its app, available on your device and subscription tier, and that the exit IP is registered or geolocated as Malawi. Ask whether the location is physical or virtual; providers can offer both kinds of locations, and a country label alone does not answer how the exit is implemented. See ExpressVPN’s explanation of physical and virtual server locations; its support page, last updated August 19, 2026, does not itself establish Malawi availability.
- Install the provider’s official app and connect. Sign in, choose Malawi only if it is listed as a selectable location, and connect. Do not treat a nearby country as an equivalent option: the apparent exit country will be different.
- Check the assigned public IP and country. Use an IP lookup service such as IPinfo’s Malawi page to see how the address is classified. Geolocation databases may disagree or take time to reflect changes, so an address identified as Malawi by one lookup may not be treated that way by every website.
- Test the service you actually need. A bank, website, or streaming service may apply its own location checks or block VPN traffic. A general IP lookup cannot guarantee that the service will accept the connection.
What current availability evidence shows
IPinfo’s current Malawi country page lists addresses and networks geolocated to Malawi, but reports “No VPNs detected in Malawi.” That is a snapshot of IP intelligence coverage, not proof that no VPN provider has or could add a Malawi exit. Infrastructure and geolocation data can change, so verify directly with a provider before paying.

Telleport’s page says Malawi servers are “coming soon” and that users can use its service from Malawi through a nearby supported country. This is provider-specific information, not evidence that all VPNs have the same coverage. The reviewed ExpressVPN support page explains physical and virtual locations and points readers to a location list, but does not establish that Malawi is offered. Check the provider’s current location list instead of inferring country availability from a global server count.
If no Malawi location is available
If the provider cannot confirm a selectable Malawi exit, you cannot get a Malawi exit IP through that provider. A connection through a nearby supported country will make your traffic appear to exit there, not Malawi. Consider waiting or checking another provider, but verify the location and its recognition by your target service before subscribing.

Will a Malawi VPN IP unlock a website or streaming catalog?
Not necessarily. A VPN can change the apparent network location, but it does not change your physical location or account eligibility. Services can use their own location checks and may block VPN connections.
Netflix says a VPN can make a device or network look as though it is connecting from somewhere other than its physical location. It also warns that VPN users may see only titles Netflix has worldwide licensing for, and that VPNs are unsupported for live events and ad-supported experiences. A Malawi exit therefore is not a promise of access to a particular catalog or feature. Netflix Help Center guidance on VPNs

Malawi VPN rules: what the available source says
A 2023 ICLG Malawi legal chapter reported that consumer VPN services were not regulated or blocked in Malawi and that operators and ISPs had no obligation to block websites. This is dated secondary legal reporting, not current legal advice; it should not be treated as a definitive statement about every use or any later legal change. ICLG’s Malawi chapter
The Roads Authority’s procurement notice for internet and VPN services for offices in Lilongwe, Blantyre, and Mzuzu concerns institutional services. It does not show that a consumer VPN has a Malawi exit endpoint. Roads Authority procurement notice
