Makita Australia lists a transparent 650 mL dust container. Its page describes the vacuum as 1.7 kg in feature copy, but the specification table gives 1.2 kg with battery and 0.6 kg as skin weight. Those weight figures conflict, so the page does not establish one definitive in-use weight.
CHOICE’s public listing for the exact model gives a 0.4 L measured dust collector and 1.5 kg weight. Those are CHOICE’s published values, not interchangeable with Makita’s stated container capacity or weight. CHOICE also displays A$149, a page price that may change. How powerful is the DCL180?
Makita Australia publishes 4.2 kPa maximum sealed suction and 30 W low suction power for the DCL180SYB. Makita India lists the same 4.2 kPa maximum sealed suction and 30 W suction power, along with maximum airflow of 1.4 m³/min. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent pickup results. Suction pressure alone cannot show how effectively a vacuum cleans different surfaces, so it should not be treated as a performance ranking. How long does the Makita DCL180 run?
The cited runtime estimates are for batteries larger than the 1.5Ah battery included with the Australian DCL180SYB. Makita India says the DCL180 can run continuously for 20 minutes with a fully charged BL1830B 3.0Ah battery. Makita UK’s specification sheet estimates 20 minutes with 3.0Ah, 33 minutes with 5.0Ah and 39 minutes with 6.0Ah. These manufacturer estimates do not establish a runtime for the kit’s included 1.5Ah battery; no such figure is published in the cited material. Is the DCL180SYB suitable for car cleaning?
Makita positions the DCL180 for cleaning vehicles as well as floors, corners, crevices, furniture, stairs and workshop areas. The kit’s listed crevice and sash nozzles are relevant to narrow spaces, and its cordless format may be useful for quick jobs away from a power outlet. That supports a task-cleaning use case; it does not establish independent results on car upholstery, embedded dirt or a full vehicle clean. What should you know about filters and accessories?
Makita India describes the DCL180 as using a washable, bagless, two-stage cloth filtration system. Makita Australia lists a cloth filter, cord holder, damper set, round brush and several cuffs as optional accessories; these are not all part of the standard equipment list. Is the Makita DCL180SYB worth considering?
