Choose the right sticker-making method
Samsung tablets offer several different kinds of “sticker” workflows. They do not all produce the same result, so choose based on what you want to do next:

Make a sticker from a photo in Gallery
This is the most direct route when you already have a clear photo of the subject. Menu names can differ by tablet and software version, but the basic sequence is the same.
1. Open a suitable photo
- Open Gallery and select the image containing the subject you want to isolate.
- Choose a photo in which the subject contrasts with its surroundings. A person wearing a dark shirt against a light wall, for example, is easier for automatic selection than a dark object against a dark background.
Samsung says cutouts work best when the subject does not blend into the background or nearby elements. A simple, well-lit image usually needs less correction than a busy scene.

2. Select the subject
- Touch and hold the subject in the photo.
- When Gallery identifies it, tap Save as sticker.
- Choose one of the available sticker styles, then tap Done.
The style choice changes the appearance of the saved sticker; it does not change the original photo. If Save as sticker does not appear, the control may not be available on that tablet or software build, or the press-and-hold gesture may not have identified a distinct subject.
3. Check and correct the cutout
Inspect the result before sharing it. Fine details such as hair, thin straps, plant stems, or fingers are the first areas to show an incorrect edge. Samsung’s support guidance says unwanted material can be removed in the editor. On supported versions, the selection tools can include:
- Manual or free-form selection for drawing around an irregular subject.
- Shape selection for quickly selecting a regular area.
- Border thickness and color controls for changing the outline treatment.
- Positioning the sticker over another photo while editing.
These controls are not guaranteed to appear identically on every Galaxy tablet. If your editor shows fewer options, use the controls that are present rather than assuming a missing tool is broken.

Use the saved sticker in messages
After saving the cutout, open an app that uses Samsung Keyboard, bring up the keyboard, and open its sticker tray. Select the custom sticker to insert it into a compatible message or text field. The sticker is reused as a digital item; you do not need to repeat the Gallery cutout each time.
Samsung’s regional instructions specifically document saving a cutout as a Samsung Keyboard sticker on devices running One UI 6.0 or later. Because keyboard integrations vary by model, app, keyboard choice, and software version, the sticker may be available in Gallery even when it does not appear in a particular messaging app.

If the sticker is not visible in the keyboard
- Confirm that Samsung Keyboard is the active keyboard rather than a different keyboard application.
- Open the keyboard’s sticker panel, not only the emoji panel; custom stickers are usually in a separate tray.
- Check whether your tablet meets the One UI version requirement described by Samsung for keyboard stickers.
- If the messaging app does not accept sticker objects, use the Gallery share or copy option to send the image instead.
Place a sticker on another Gallery photo
To combine the cutout with a second image:
- Open the destination photo in Gallery.
- Tap Edit.
- Choose Decorations, then Stickers.
- Select the saved custom sticker.
- Drag, resize, or rotate it as the editor allows, then save the edited image.
This is useful for adding a pet to a postcard, placing a product cutout on a promotional image, or making a collage. The saved result is an edited photo rather than a multi-layer project that Samsung documents for later reopening.
Design a sticker-style image with Gallery tools
You do not need an existing cutout to make a simple design. Gallery’s photo editor includes a Decorations area for drawing, text, and stickers.
Build the design
- Open a photo in Gallery and tap Edit.
- Open Decorations.
- Use the drawing tools to sketch lines or add handwritten details.
- Add text when the design needs a name, caption, or label.
- Choose a preloaded sticker or insert one of your saved custom stickers.
- Adjust the elements, then save the edited image.
This route is best when the finished item is meant to be a complete image, such as a decorated photograph or announcement. Samsung’s cited instructions do not describe this workflow as exporting a separate layered sticker file, so do not expect to reopen each element independently after saving.
Generate optional sticker artwork with Creative Studio
Creative Studio is a separate, AI-assisted route rather than an alternative name for Gallery cutouts. Samsung describes a workflow in which you add a photo or sketch, write a short description, choose a style, generate the design, and save a sticker set for use in photos and messages.
Typical Creative Studio sequence
- Open Creative Studio if it is installed and available on your tablet.
- Add a photo or a sketch as the starting material.
- Enter a concise description of the look you want.
- Choose one of the offered styles.
- Generate the design and review the result.
- Save the resulting sticker or sticker set for use in Gallery and messaging.
The labels and order can change with software updates. If Creative Studio is absent, that is generally a compatibility difference, not a missing Gallery setting.

Check tablet compatibility first
Samsung’s S Pen guidance lists Creative Studio for Tab S12 Ultra, Tab S12+, Tab S11 Ultra, Tab S11, Tab S10+, Tab S10 Ultra, Tab S9, Tab S9+, Tab S9 Ultra, Tab S8, Tab S8+, and Tab S8 Ultra. Samsung says other tablet models do not have this feature. Confirm your exact model and current One UI version before planning a workflow around it.

Some AI capabilities require an internet connection and a Samsung account. Availability can therefore differ even between tablets in the same family.
Understand the AI output trade-offs
Samsung states that edited images produced with the relevant AI feature may be resized and will have a visible AI watermark. Treat the result as an idea or digital decoration, not as a guaranteed print-ready master. If you need precise dimensions, clean edges, or an unmarked file, use a normal photo cutout or hand-drawn design instead.
Use drawing-assist features for a sketch-based design
On a supported Galaxy tablet, Samsung’s Gallery and Notes drawing-assist guidance describes turning a sketch into an image. The practical workflow is to start with a drawing in Gallery or Notes, open the available drawing-assist or sketch-to-image control, provide the requested style or description, and save the generated result. The exact button name and placement depend on the tablet and software version.
This is different from tracing a photo subject: the system interprets your sketch and generates artwork. It may therefore change proportions, details, or colors. Review the generated image before treating it as a finished sticker, and remember the resizing and watermark caveat for AI-edited images.

Save, copy, share, or print the result
Save a photo cutout as an image
Samsung’s regional photo-sticker instructions document saving a cutout as a PNG image. They also describe options to save it as a Samsung Keyboard sticker, copy it, or share it. The exact buttons and menus can differ by model and software version.
A PNG is the most flexible choice when another app, website, or computer needs an image file. Saving as a keyboard sticker is more convenient when the main goal is messaging. Copying is useful for immediate pasting into an app that accepts images.
Share for printing
The share route can include printing, provided your tablet and printer setup expose a compatible print service. Samsung confirms the share-to-print path for the cutout, but does not specify a universal paper size, margin, bleed, scaling percentage, or printer setting. Check the specifications for your printer and any printable adhesive sticker paper before committing to a sheet.
For physical stickers, inspect the PNG at the size you intend to print and confirm that the paper is compatible with your printer. Samsung’s instructions do not promise a particular adhesive, water resistance, cut line, or color profile.
Arrange several designs in Samsung Notes
Samsung Notes can export a note as a PDF. You can use a note as a simple page-based workspace: place copied artwork on the page, arrange several designs, and export the note to PDF. This can be convenient for keeping a set together, but Samsung’s cited instructions do not provide sticker-sheet dimensions, safe margins, bleed values, or printer calibration guidance. Treat the PDF as an organized page, then verify its scale in the print dialog or in your printer software.

Fix the most common problems
“Save as sticker” is missing
- Try a photo with a single, clearly separated subject rather than a crowded group scene.
- Touch and hold directly on the subject, not on empty background.
- Check the Gallery editor after selecting the image; some controls appear only after a recognized selection.
- Confirm your tablet model and One UI version, since Samsung changes menu availability by device and software.
The cutout includes background clutter
- Choose a higher-contrast source photo when possible.
- Use the editor’s manual or free-form selection if that control is available.
- Remove unwanted material before applying a border or decorative style.
- For hair, transparent objects, or overlapping subjects, expect to spend more time refining the edge than you would with a solid object.
The result looks jagged or too small
- Start with the highest-resolution original photo available instead of a screenshot or compressed copy.
- Avoid repeatedly exporting and re-importing the image before the final save.
- For AI-generated artwork, remember that Samsung warns the edited image may be resized; do not assume the generated dimensions match your intended print size.
Creative Studio or sketch-to-image is unavailable
Check the exact tablet model, One UI version, Samsung account status, and internet connection. Creative Studio is model-limited, and drawing-assist features are restricted to selected devices and software versions. A tablet can support Gallery cutouts while lacking the AI tools.
The printed sticker does not line up with expectations
Samsung documents sharing a cutout for printing, not a universal sticker-sheet template. Before printing a full page, make a test print on ordinary paper, verify the scale and placement in the print dialog, and follow the printer and adhesive-paper manufacturer’s feed and compatibility instructions.
A practical workflow for clean, reusable stickers
- Take or choose a well-lit photo with strong separation between subject and background.
- Create the cutout in Gallery and inspect the edge at a high zoom level.
- Remove unwanted areas and adjust the border or style only after the subject is clean.
- Save the result as a keyboard sticker if you mainly message, or as a PNG if you need to move it between apps.
- Use Gallery’s Edit > Decorations > Stickers path when you want to place it on another photo.
- Keep the original photo untouched so you can make a cleaner cutout later if the first selection is poor.
- Use Creative Studio or drawing assist only when the device supports it and an AI-generated, potentially resized and watermarked result is acceptable.
What your Samsung tablet can and cannot guarantee
A Galaxy tablet can make a reusable digital sticker from a photo with a press-and-hold selection, reuse it in messages, and layer it onto another Gallery image. It can also save a cutout as a PNG or share it toward printing. Those are separate outcomes, so select the save or share option that matches your next step.

Samsung’s documented tools do not establish a universal sticker-sheet layout, printer profile, bleed setting, adhesive-paper standard, or layered project format.
