Yes—you can stage LEGO Pokémon scenes and photograph them like a field guide, but the LEGO sets and Pokémon Snap games are separate products. The official descriptions reviewed do not establish a LEGO set or game mode made for Pokémon Snap, and a physical build does not interact with either game.
What Pokémon Snap has you do
The original Pokémon Snap is a camera-based safari across Pokémon Island, whose biomes are home to more than 60 species, according to The Pokémon Company International. Players ride the all-terrain ZERO-ONE to photograph Pokémon. The game became available on Nintendo Switch through Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack on June 24, 2022.

New Pokémon Snap, released for Nintendo Switch on April 30, 2021, takes players to the Lental region to conduct an ecological survey with Professor Mirror and fill a Photodex. It was inspired by the 1999 Nintendo 64 game, as described by The Pokémon Company International and Nintendo.
Borrow the photo ideas, not the game mechanics
Nintendo says in-game photo scores take pose, apparent size, whether a Pokémon faces the camera, and other factors into account. In the game, players can use a melody or toss fluffruit to attract Pokémon. Those mechanics can inspire your LEGO photos, but they do not control a physical figure. Nintendo also says a free update added three areas, each with day and night versions, and 20 more Pokémon. The game behaves consistently on Nintendo Switch 2.

Stage a small LEGO Pokémon safari
Think of the activity as making a miniature field guide: build a setting, arrange a figure in it, and look for a frame that communicates the Pokémon’s pose and surroundings. A LEGO set is optional; ordinary bricks, paper scenery, or figures you already own are enough.
- Choose a habitat. Make a forest, beach, cave, or riverbank from bricks and simple props. Keep the scene small enough to photograph easily.
- Give the Pokémon a moment. Pose it as if resting, exploring, or reacting to something in its habitat. Add a second figure or a small prop if it helps suggest a story.
- Take a few frames. Photograph the scene from different angles and distances. Try one view that shows the whole habitat and another that makes the Pokémon’s expression or pose clearer.
- Pick the strongest field-guide photo. Compare how well each frame shows the figure’s expression, pose, scale, and setting. There is no official scoring system for this activity; the comparison is simply a way to borrow the games’ focus on composing Pokémon photos.
Which LEGO Pokémon set fits the idea?
LEGO’s official US catalog includes SMART Play sets such as Drone Search for Mythical Mew and Eevee and Lapras’s Treasure Hunt. The search-and-exploration theme of Drone Search for Mythical Mew can complement a Snap-inspired scene, but it is a LEGO Pokémon build—not a Pokémon Snap product. Check LEGO’s official Pokémon collection for regional availability and current prices; the catalog’s US listings do not establish what is available or what it costs in other regions.

| Option | What the official catalog establishes | How it could fit a photo scene |
|---|---|---|
| SMART Play: Drone Search for Mythical Mew | LEGO lists it as a LEGO Pokémon set. LEGO describes SMART Play sets as intended for ages 6+. | Its search theme can provide an exploration prompt for a staged habitat photo. |
| Eevee and Lapras’s Treasure Hunt | LEGO lists it as a LEGO Pokémon set. The general product information describes SMART Play sets as intended for ages 6+; check the individual listing for the set’s specific details. | Use the treasure-hunt idea as a backdrop for a scene with a clear subject and setting. |
| Larger LEGO Pokémon display builds | LEGO describes larger display builds as aimed at adult collectors. | They may suit a display-focused scene, but size or price alone does not make a set better for photography. |
The official catalog’s audience guidance is not a comparison of build difficulty. For a photography activity, choose based on the figures and scenery you want to frame, the space you have, and the set’s listed details—not on an assumption that the biggest build is best.
