The Majority Bowfell Halo Atmos is a budget-friendly way to add a subwoofer and dedicated rear speakers to a TV setup. Its compact 5.1 package delivers more involving film sound than a single-bar design, but its Dolby Atmos effect is virtualized, not overhead, and its spatial presentation has limits. UK reviews and the February 2026 launch announcement put it at about £169; that is a dated reference, not a live price.
What is included, and what does “5.1 Atmos” mean here?
The Bowfell Halo Atmos is a complete 5.1 soundbar package: a main soundbar, two rear speakers and a subwoofer. That makes it a different proposition from a standalone bar that relies on its front speakers to simulate surround sound. The rear speakers provide dedicated surround channels, while the subwoofer handles low-frequency effects.

Dolby Atmos is supported, but there are no physical up-firing drivers. What Hi-Fi? and Expert Reviews describe the height effect as virtualized, so do not expect discrete overhead sound or the scale of a system with ceiling or upward-firing speakers. The system’s claimed 300W output is a Majority specification, not an independently verified measurement.
How does it sound for TV and films?
Dialogue and everyday TV
AVForums praised clean dialogue for television, and the extra speakers can make a TV setup feel fuller than its built-in audio. However, reviews are not unanimous on tonal balance: coverage notes some dialogue or tonal issues, and AVForums found the music midrange less convincing. It is a reasonable upgrade to consider if your priority is a more substantial TV sound system, but the evidence does not establish that every voice will be clearer in every room or with every TV.

Films, bass and surround detail
The strongest case for the package is its impact relative to its size and price. What Hi-Fi? found it surprisingly bassy and cinematic; Expert Reviews praised the subwoofer’s impact and the rear speakers’ placed detail. AVForums also liked the output for the compact footprint. The dedicated rear speakers can add audible detail around the listener, although AVForums felt they contributed less to the overall soundfield than hoped.
Music and spatial limits
Music performance is more mixed than film performance. AVForums criticized the midrange, while TechRadar also found music quality limited. The compact system’s spatial scale and virtual height effect are compromises, not evidence of a broad, overhead cinema soundstage. Expert Reviews’ John Archer summed up the value proposition this way: “The Bowfell Halo Atmos’ sound is startlingly, if not quite shockingly, good for its price.”

If the TV produces no sound
- Check that the TV socket you used is an audio output, and select the matching input on the soundbar.
- Check the TV’s audio output settings. For the described connection, Majority’s manual recommends setting digital audio output to PCM if sound is absent.
- If the connection still does not work, try another supported route—optical, ARC/eARC or Bluetooth—where your TV and soundbar support it.
TechRadar recounted one dialogue dropout that stopped after a restart, but the reviewer could not identify whether the soundbar, TV or cable caused it. That isolated report does not establish a recurring product fault.
What are the main trade-offs?
| What works in its favor | What to weigh before buying |
|---|---|
| Bundled subwoofer and two dedicated rear speakers in a compact package | Rear speakers connect to each other by cable, and reviewers report a noticeable amount of wiring |
| Reviews praise bass impact, value and rear-channel detail | Spatial scale and virtualized height effects are limited |
| HDMI eARC, optical, Bluetooth 5.3, USB and AUX are listed | Reviews describe mixed music performance and some dialogue or tonal concerns |
| Dolby Atmos support is included | No physical up-firing drivers; Expert Reviews and TechRadar also note no DTS support |
| Compact main bar | AVForums criticized the LED display, music midrange and plasticky construction |
How much does it cost, and what should you compare it with?
The available UK price references are launch and review figures from 2026, not current listings: Majority advertised £169 on February 5, AVForums listed an MSRP of £169.95, and What Hi-Fi? and TechRadar reviewed it at about £169. Check the current price and availability before deciding whether the bundle is still good value.

When comparing alternatives, match the whole package rather than the Dolby Atmos label alone. Check whether a competitor includes rear speakers and a subwoofer, how it handles height effects, its connections, size, sound for dialogue and music, and its live price. What Hi-Fi? and TechRadar identify the more expensive Hisense AX5125H as a complete-package alternative, but exact current prices and configurations should be checked side by side. What Hi-Fi? also names the Sony HT-SF150, Creative Stage Pro and Sonos Ray for shoppers willing to give up dedicated surrounds, a subwoofer and/or Dolby Atmos.

Should you buy the Majority Bowfell Halo Atmos?
Consider it if you want a compact, affordable TV upgrade that includes a subwoofer and real rear speakers, and your priority is more involving film sound rather than convincing overhead Atmos or a music-first system. Its value depends on the live price: the roughly £169 figure is a 2026 UK launch/review reference, not a guaranteed current offer. If soundstage scale, music quality, a cleaner cable layout or DTS support matters more, compare other complete packages before buying.
