Magico’s A3 2027 is a ground-up redesign of its A3 floorstander, not a cosmetic refresh. The reported UK price is £28,998 per pair, with availability expected in the first part of 2027. Its new cabinet, drivers and crossover make it a serious high-end proposition, but there is no independent review of the new model yet—so claims about its sound remain untested outside Magico.
What is new in the Magico A3 2027?
Magico describes the A3 2027 as a three-way, four-driver floorstanding speaker. The company says it retained none of the original A3’s components simply because they had worked before: the enclosure, drive units and crossover were all redesigned. The original model launched in 2017; this generation follows nine years later. Magico’s product page and its launch material frame the change as a complete rethink, not an update to finishes or parts.

Cabinet and vibration control
Magico says it used laser vibrometry to locate cabinet-panel vibration, then revised the bracing and applied constrained-layer damping. It also describes using a Near-Field Scanner robot to measure the speaker’s output across a three-dimensional sphere, with the aim of optimizing both on-axis and off-axis response. These are the manufacturer’s descriptions of its design process, not independent test findings.

Magico’s product page specifies midrange and bass cones built with aluminum-honeycomb cores between carbon-fiber skins, plus a 28 mm beryllium tweeter with a customized neodymium motor. It lists a three-way Elliptical Symmetry crossover with a 24 dB Linkwitz–Riley slope. There is one specification discrepancy: Magico lists a 6-inch midrange, while hi-fi+ describes it as 5 inches in its launch report. Confirm the final driver size with Magico or a dealer before relying on either figure.

Published specifications
| Specification | Magico’s published figure |
|---|---|
| Design | Three-way, four-driver floorstander |
| Frequency response | 25 Hz–50 kHz |
| Sensitivity | 87 dB |
| Impedance | 4 ohms |
| Recommended amplifier power | 50–300 W RMS |
| Dimensions per speaker | 9.25 in W × 11.02 in D × 43.11 in H |
| Weight per speaker | 131 lb (59.4 kg) |
These are manufacturer specifications, not measurements from an independent laboratory. The 4-ohm impedance and 87 dB sensitivity are useful starting points for amplifier matching; the recommended 50–300 W RMS range is not proof that every amplifier in that range will work equally well in every room or at every listening level.
How much does the Magico A3 2027 cost?
What Hi-Fi? reports a UK price of £28,998 per pair and says availability is expected in the first part of 2027 through distributor Absolute Sounds. hi-fi+ gives an estimated Q1 2027 ship date and notes that specifications may change. Treat the price and timing as reported UK launch information, not a global price or confirmation that stock is already available. Ask a local dealer for the price in your country, including applicable tax, delivery and installation.

The A3 2027 is a substantial outlay even by high-end-speaker standards, but the available figures do not establish whether it is a better value than competing models. No direct competitor comparison or independent performance evidence for the new speaker is available in the sources cited here. A prospective buyer should arrange a demonstration and compare alternatives at the same price, in a suitable room, with compatible amplification.
How does it compare with the original A3?
The new model’s redesign makes a simple like-for-like price comparison misleading. What Hi-Fi? reports that the original A3 launched in the UK at £12,000 per pair and that Magico indicated its price had risen to just under £22,000 in 2026. Those are UK figures from different dates, not a controlled comparison of equivalent current prices. Magico’s December 2017 release listed the original A3 at a US suggested retail price of $9,800 per pair, with shipping expected in the first quarter of 2018.

The hi-fi+ review of the original A3 praised its transparency and musical coherence, while noting that its size and sealed enclosure limited extreme playback levels compared with larger loudspeakers. The review called it “a transcriptor of recorded music, and makes many of its rivals sound like pale interpreters.” That assessment concerns the original speaker only; its cabinet, drivers and crossover are not the A3 2027’s.

What should you check before buying?
- Audition the new model. Ask whether a dealer can demonstrate the A3 2027 once it is available. The original A3’s review cannot predict the new design’s sound.
- Check local pricing and delivery. Confirm tax, shipping, installation and dealer availability; UK launch pricing does not establish what it will cost elsewhere.
- Plan for the size and weight. At Magico’s stated 131 lb per speaker, a pair weighs about 262 lb before packaging. Discuss access, placement and handling with the dealer.
- Match it to your room and amplifier. Use the published 87 dB sensitivity, 4-ohm impedance and 50–300 W RMS recommendation as starting points, then discuss your amplifier, room and listening levels with a qualified dealer.
- Confirm final details in writing. Magico’s specification page and hi-fi+ differ on midrange diameter, and hi-fi+ says launch specifications may change. Ask for the final specification sheet and warranty terms for your market; the original A3’s warranty does not establish the new model’s coverage.
