The official sources we checked confirm three things: Mafia III launched in 2016, PlayStation lists Mafia III: Definitive Edition for PS4, and the Xbox Store lists the same edition for Xbox Series X|S. They do not confirm a PS5 version of Mafia III, and we could not verify an official launch trailer page, so this article does not describe the trailer’s footage, length, music, or publication date.
What the official listings establish
The table below separates the original 2016 release from the later Definitive Edition listings. Each row names the source behind it, and “not stated” means the source we checked does not give that detail.

Where the PS5 question stands
The PlayStation listing we checked is for PS4. A PS5 version of Mafia III is therefore not established by the sources available, and nothing here should be read as confirming PS5 availability, performance targets, or a PS5 upgrade path.

#1 Best Overall
- 5026555362634
- Search the PlayStation Store for “Mafia III: Definitive Edition.”
- Open the product page and read the platform information shown there.
- If PS5 is not listed, treat PS4 as the only confirmed PlayStation version.
Xbox Series X|S: what the listing describes
The Xbox Store describes Mafia III: Definitive Edition for Xbox Series X|S with 60 FPS gameplay and technical improvements. The listing does not state a release date in the source we checked, and it does not explain how those improvements compare with the PS4 edition. Do not assume identical performance or content across platforms without confirming on the store page.
The trailer: what can and cannot be stated
The title refers to an official PS5 and Xbox Series X|S launch trailer. We could not verify an official video page for that trailer, so we cannot say what scenes it shows, how long it runs, what soundtrack it uses, or when it was published. Until a clip appears on an official 2K, PlayStation, or Xbox channel, treat any video described as the official trailer with caution.

What Mafia III is about

Do not confuse it with Mafia: Definitive Edition
A 2K support page updated October 8, 2026 covers Mafia: Definitive Edition, a 2020 game about Tommy Angelo, and describes its release on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. That is a different game. Its upgrade terms do not apply to Mafia III, and we did not find upgrade terms for Mafia III in the sources reviewed.
The 2016 Collector’s Edition
Take-Two described the original 2016 Collector’s Edition as including the original score on vinyl, a collectible art book, art prints and other items. That is a historical description. It does not show whether the edition is still sold or in stock anywhere today.
