The MacLaren T-01 Twin is a discontinued side-by-side double stroller. CHOICE’s public listing provides its basic specifications, but not the member-only test scores, safety and durability outcomes, or detailed pros and cons. That means the available public evidence is enough to describe the model, not to declare it a tested success or failure.
What does CHOICE’s review actually establish?
CHOICE marks the T-01 Twin as discontinued and lists a price of $499 on its review page. That is the figure shown in the listing, not a current offer: the page does not establish whether any seller has stock or what the stroller now costs. The public page identifies Kim Gilmour as a senior project officer who manages product tests, but the T-01 Twin’s Expert Rating, performance and ease-of-use scores, test outcomes, recommendation, and detailed pros and cons are available only to members. The public information therefore does not establish whether this stroller passed CHOICE’s safety or durability testing. See CHOICE’s MacLaren T-01 Twin listing.

What can’t be concluded about safety or recalls?
The Twin Techno manual is for a different named model
A Maclaren Twin Techno operating-instructions manual gives region-specific child-load limits: 15 kg per child for European standards, 20 kg × 2 for AU/NZ products, and 25 kg × 2 plus a 110 cm height limit for US testing. It also advises keeping children clear while folding or unfolding, using the harness, applying brakes when parked, and avoiding overloads. The available sources do not establish that the T-01 Twin is the Twin Techno, so those limits and instructions should not be treated as specifications or instructions for the T-01 Twin.

Historical Maclaren hinge recalls do not identify this stroller
A Product Safety Australia report dated 13 November 2009 described Maclaren stroller recalls after children’s fingers could enter an elbow hinge during unfolding. It reported at least 80,000 units recalled in Australia and one million in the United States; these are historical, brand-level figures, not counts for the T-01 Twin. Read the Product Safety Australia report.
In a 9 May 2011 update, Maclaren USA said a voluntary recall had been announced in November 2009 in conjunction with the CPSC and that hinge covers remained available for older umbrella strollers. That update discusses Maclaren umbrella strollers generally and does not establish that the T-01 Twin was included. Read the Maclaren USA update via PR Newswire.

For a particular used stroller, identify its exact model and date, inspect its hinge design, and check the applicable official recall or corrective-action records. A general brand history alone cannot confirm whether a specific T-01 Twin is affected.

Because CHOICE marks the model discontinued and its public review omits the detailed results, a prospective buyer should evaluate the specific stroller rather than rely on an overall verdict that is not publicly available.
