Apple announced US launch pricing of $599, or $499 for education, on March 4, 2026; availability began March 11, 2026, according to its MacBook Neo announcement. Dell’s US product page showed a $699.99 build-your-own starting point when accessed October 7, 2026. Prices and offers change. Dell’s comparison page, last updated August 2026, gives conflicting starting prices for these laptops, so use the live product listings for the price of the configuration you intend to buy.
How do the displays and keyboards compare?
The Dell has the larger listed screen: 13.4 inches versus 13 inches on the Neo. Dell also specifies touch input and a variable 30–120Hz refresh rate. Apple lists the Neo’s 2408 × 1506 display at 500 nits with sRGB; Dell lists its 2560 × 1600 display at 500 nits. Those headline figures do not establish which screen will look better for your work, but touch support and higher refresh flexibility are clear Dell-listed features.

Which one has the ports and memory you need?
The Neo has two USB-C ports with different transfer speeds: one USB 3 port rated up to 10Gb/s and one USB 2 port rated up to 480Mb/s. Both support charging, and it also has a 3.5mm headphone jack. Apple lists support for one external display up to 4K at 60Hz while the built-in display is in use. If your desk setup depends on faster transfers or several peripherals, check what adapters or a hub your workflow would require.

Dell lists two USB-C ports, but the standard depends on the processor in the DX13260 configuration. Core 5 systems have two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports rated at 10Gbps with DisplayPort and power delivery; Core Ultra systems have two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports with DisplayPort 2.1 and power delivery. Dell lists no card reader. Check the chosen SKU rather than assuming all DX13260 models share the same port specification.
Memory and storage are less flexible on the Neo: Apple lists 8GB unified memory and 256GB or 512GB SSD options. Dell lists 8GB, 16GB or 32GB memory and 256GB, 512GB or 1TB storage configurations. More choice can matter for demanding workloads or a longer intended service life, but the best fit depends on your apps and budget.

What do the battery-life claims actually mean?
Apple estimates up to 16 hours of video streaming and up to 11 hours of wireless web use for the Neo. Dell advertises up to 17 hours of Netflix streaming for the XPS 13 and identifies a Dell lab setup for a current configuration. These are manufacturers’ estimates under different conditions, not directly comparable results from one test. Your workload, settings, network and configuration can affect real battery life.
Should you compare performance claims?
The Neo uses Apple’s A18 Pro with a 6-core CPU and 5-core GPU. Dell offers the DX13260 with Series 3 Intel Core 5 320 or Core Ultra 7 355 configurations. Those chip names alone do not show how either laptop will perform in your specific apps; look for independent benchmarks of the exact configurations and workload if sustained performance, gaming or software development is central to your decision.

Apple’s launch announcement says the Neo is up to 50% faster for everyday tasks and up to 3× faster for some on-device AI workloads than a bestselling PC with a then-shipping Intel Core Ultra 5. These are Apple’s specified comparisons, not independent results against the DX13260. Dell’s August 2026 comparison page says the XPS 13 wins seven of eleven categories and claims 2.1× faster Wi-Fi throughput for Wi-Fi 7 versus the Neo. Those are Dell-authored claims, not a neutral, matched assessment. Wi-Fi 7’s benefit also depends on compatible network equipment.
When neither comparison is enough
If your decision hinges on sustained professional performance, gaming, repairability, or a particular multi-monitor setup, the manufacturer specifications here do not settle it. Check software requirements and independent testing for the specific workloads and configurations you care about. The sources cited here do not establish a controlled battery head-to-head or a detailed repairability comparison.
