Lumos completed its acquisition of ALLO Fiber’s Joplin, Missouri, network on October 2, 2026. If you’re an existing ALLO customer in Joplin, the companies say to keep using your service as usual and take no action for now. Lumos plans to contact customers directly before service transitions near the end of 2026.
What the acquisition includes
Lumos announced that it had completed the acquisition of the fiber network ALLO built and operated in Joplin. Lumos described the network as a foundation for expanding across the community, but did not publish a construction schedule or quantify planned expansion. The announcement also did not disclose the deal value, Joplin customer count, homes passed, or network mileage. Lumos’s October 2 announcement is the primary source for the transaction; Data Center Dynamics’ October 6 report likewise says financial terms were not disclosed.

The announcement describes an acquisition of the Joplin network, not a published count of customers or a change that customers must initiate themselves. ALLO’s company description says it serves more than 50 communities, but that is its broader footprint—not the size of this transaction.

For now, continue using ALLO service as usual. Lumos and ALLO say customers do not need to take action immediately. Lumos says it will contact customers directly with information before their service transitions. Follow the current notices from the companies rather than signing up for Lumos separately on the assumption that a new order is required.

- DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
- AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
- EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
- OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
When service is expected to move
Lumos said at the time of its October 2 announcement that customer service would transition near the end of 2026. ALLO’s customer notice says Lumos will follow up in November 2026 with more information about what to expect, and that service is expected to transition by the end of the year. These are the companies’ stated plans at announcement, not a guaranteed date for every customer. Check the ALLO Joplin transition notice for current updates.
Will service or the bill change?
ALLO says service will remain active through the end of 2026 or until a customer transfers, and that the monthly service and price will not change while the customer remains on ALLO service. That assurance applies to the period on ALLO; it does not establish what Lumos service will cost or include after a customer transitions.

The reviewed transition information does not state post-transition plan prices, plan details, equipment requirements, or whether customer-owned routers will be compatible. Neither company’s announcement establishes that the acquisition itself will bring faster speeds, lower prices, or improved reliability.
