- Use a fractional scale only when the exact product page states it.
- Use millimeters, centimeters or inches when that is the only specification supplied.
- Do not label a height-only figure “1/12,” “1/8” or any other scale by guesswork.
For example, a 215 mm product explicitly described as 1/8 scale and a 215 mm product with no scale claim are not equivalent evidence. The first includes a manufacturer’s ratio; the second is simply a measured size.

How to compare a listing before you buy
- Identify the exact release. Copy the complete product name, line, version or story arc and SKU. “Luffy figure” is not enough to distinguish an articulated Gear 5 release from a fixed anniversary statue.
- Record the manufacturer’s own measurement. Write down the original unit and wording, such as “approximately 140 mm” or “5.7 inches (14.5 cm).” Do not silently replace “about” with an exact value.

Unit conversion without misleading precision

A dynamic stance may project forward or sideways beyond the torso. A dedicated pedestal can be wider than the feet, and an effect part can extend past the platform. The cited product pages do not establish a consistent base footprint across Luffy lines, so do not assume that a 140 mm figure, for example, needs only a 140 mm square of shelf. - Which joints move, and are replacement hands or faces included?
- Does the figure stand unaided in the pose you want, or is a support required?
- Does the published height describe the neutral pose or a dynamic pose?
- Will repeated handling interfere with loose effects or movable hair pieces?
Questions to ask on a fixed display release
- Is the pedestal permanently attached or removable?
- Are effects and character accessories part of the box contents?
- How wide and deep is the complete base, not just the character?
- Does the seller photograph the same version named in the listing?
Choosing by display goal
For a compact desk or narrow shelf
