Hindustan Times reported on October 2, 2026, that social activist Arvind Sharma wrote to the Punjab governor about the bridge’s condition. According to the report, Sharma’s letter alleged that the retaining wall had badly deteriorated and partly collapsed, leaving reinforcement steel exposed. It also said some portions were being held with temporary clamps. The Tribune’s separate report, published October 3, 2026, quoted Sharma and activist Kuldeep Singh Khaira raising concerns about damage to the retaining structure, exposed steel and railings. It described claims of partial collapse at multiple points and said some canal-side railings or grills were damaged or missing. How can residents submit a related grievance?
Punjab’s Public Grievance Redressal System lists several general channels for citizen grievances: the connect.punjab.gov.in portal, the m-Sewa app, a Sewa Kendra, and state helpline 1100. The listing does not say that Sharma used these channels or that they are the formal route for this particular petition. Residents considering a complaint can describe the location and observed issue clearly, and avoid presenting an unverified safety conclusion as an engineering finding.
