Police have arrested five men in connection with the alleged abduction and killings of Lucknow nursing officer Pawan Kumar Garg and his associate Sachin Vishwakarma. According to police details reported by Hindustan Times on October 2, 2026, the suspects sought ₹50 lakh in ransom; the report said the men’s bodies had not been recovered by Friday evening. The allegations have not been established in court.

Hindustan Times reported that police believe Nitin Mishra knew Garg and thought he had around ₹50–60 lakh because he was looking to buy land. That amount is part of the reported police account, not an independently verified statement of Garg’s finances.

According to the account relayed by the newspaper, Mishra called Garg to Bhitauli crossing on September 27. Garg arrived with Vishwakarma. Police said the two were taken first to a dhaba in Itaunja and then to an under-construction house in Annamau, where they were allegedly held in separate rooms.

Have the bodies been recovered?
Hindustan Times reported that the bodies had not been recovered by Friday evening, October 2, 2026, and that police teams were searching near Chahlari Ghat in Sitapur. That is a dated status from the report, not confirmation of the recovery status after that evening.
