Love Link is a small web product for sending a love letter as an animated page. The sender writes every word. The service adds an envelope animation, a typewriter-style reveal, a visual theme, and a private link or QR code. Writing and previewing are free, and sharing costs a one-time $2.99 USD, according to the product’s own pages. Its maker, Liang Tang, describes the refusal to generate text as the central rule: it “never writes a single word for you,” as he put it in a Sep 29, 2026 DEV Community post.
What Love Link does
The creation flow, as described on the official creation page, has the sender write the letter, address and sign it, and add up to three memories. The sender then chooses a theme and tone and previews the result before paying. The recipient opens the finished page in a browser. They don’t need an account or an app, and they never pay.

The About page lists the intended occasions: long-distance relationships, anniversaries, birthdays, apologies, confessions, and everyday notes. The product handles presentation and delivery, and the sender writes in their own voice.

No. The official FAQ asks this question directly and answers that users write the words themselves. The software creates the animated page and the reveal. The claim is narrow. The sites say the product doesn’t use AI to write your letter. They don’t say that no AI exists anywhere in its stack, and this article doesn’t claim that either.

Why the maker left AI out
These are Liang Tang’s own arguments from his DEV Community post. The post offers no controlled study or customer data behind them.
- Authorship. His position is that a specific person’s awkward, personal words are the point. In his phrasing, “The words are the product.” Of generated letters, he says “I built the opposite.”
- Recipient perception. He asserts that generated sentiment can be detected and feels hollow. This is an opinion in the post, not a cited finding.
- Pricing. He writes that “The no-AI decision is what makes the honest pricing possible.” The idea is that without per-letter text generation, a single flat fee can work. He gives no cost figures, so treat this as his reasoning and not audited economics.

What “private” means here
“Private” means unlisted. The page is not publicly listed, but anyone who has the exact link of an unlocked letter can open it. Don’t post the link or QR code anywhere you wouldn’t post the letter itself.
The official sources don’t describe password protection, end-to-end encryption, or recipient-only access. The creation page also doesn’t promise permanent hosting. If you want a keepsake that lasts, don’t rely on the link alone. Save the text yourself.

Using the QR code on a physical card
The creation page says the QR code can be printed or placed in a card. That gives a hybrid option: a handwritten or blank card with the code inside that opens the animated letter. The card is optional. The link works without it. If you go this route, blank greeting cards with envelopes are the simple choice. Test that the printed code scans before you hand it over.

The more interesting detail is the unlock design. A paid letter can be unlocked by a payment webhook, by the success page polling for status, or by a reconciliation process. The post says all three paths converge on idempotent unlock logic, using row locks and webhook deduplication. In practice, a delayed or repeated webhook should neither fail to unlock a letter nor unlock it twice. That matters for a product where a buyer who has just paid expects the link immediately.
