Moto X, a completed Super Nintendo motocross game developed in 1994 by Software Creations, is finally receiving its first digital release on October 16, 2026. Ratalaika Games is bringing the previously unreleased racer to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, and PC. A separate physical SNES cartridge edition has already made the game playable on original hardware.
Why Moto X was considered a lost SNES game
Software Creations made Moto X for Trimark Interactive, a subdivision of Trimark Pictures, in 1994. The project was completed, but Trimark abandoned its conventional console-game plans while shifting its attention toward interactive movies. Without a publisher willing to release it, Moto X never reached stores during the SNES era.

That history makes Moto X different from an unfinished prototype. The game existed as a finished 16-bit release that simply missed its commercial window. Modern releases are therefore preserving a completed period game rather than completing a cancelled project.

The physical SNES release arrived first
Piko Interactive revived Moto X for original Super Nintendo hardware in 2023. Its physical package contains the SNES cartridge, a cardboard box, and a color manual. The product listing offered NTSC and PAL region choices and displayed a price of €42.99 when retrieved; both price and stock can change.

Piko announced the cartridge wave on July 18, 2023. The announcement said preorders would remain open for 60 days and that production was expected to take about four months. This edition is the practical choice for collectors who want a boxed object, period-authentic hardware, and a cartridge that can be played on compatible SNES equipment.

How Moto X plays
Publisher descriptions position Moto X as an Excitebike-like motocross racer, but with a more extreme presentation. Six riders compete in each race, and the game combines obstacle courses with selectable engine classes, power-ups, and split-screen competition.

Motorcycle classes
- 250cc: the lower-powered class for learning the handling and track layouts.

Tracks, obstacles, and progression

Two-player local racing
Local multiplayer supports up to two players in shared or split-screen play.
