No VPN is established as a safe or reliable way to play Lost Ark from an unsupported region, preserve Trusted Status, or lower ping. Lost Ark Support lists VPN use as one possible reason Trusted Status may be revoked or become intermittent. The options below are providers to compare—not tested Lost Ark winners—and the available evidence supports five named plans, not the six promised in the original headline.
Can you use a VPN to play Lost Ark?
A VPN reroutes your internet traffic through another server. That can change the route your connection takes, but it does not change your Lost Ark account’s eligibility, character world, or the game’s regional availability. Lost Ark Support says playing from an unsupported region causes the “The Region is Closed and Can’t Be Selected” error; it does not recommend a VPN as a way around that restriction. Lost Ark Support

The Western PC version launches through Steam. Its official FAQ lists four regional server groups: North America East, North America West, Central Europe, and Latin America. Check the current supported-region information before troubleshooting access, because availability can change.

Can you get banned or lose Trusted Status for using a VPN?
Lost Ark Support lists “Using a VPN” among reasons Trusted Status “may be revoked or be intermittent.” It also names playing in an unsupported region and suspicious account activity. This is a conditional warning, not a statement that every VPN user automatically loses status or is banned. Lost Ark Support says, “No single action will result in Trusted Status being granted automatically,” and describes account evaluations as ongoing. Lost Ark Support, Account Restrictions

Without Trusted Status, an account cannot use the Auction House, Marketplace, player trades, or mail. The publisher’s March 25, 2025 update warns against cheating, botting, hacking, and software or services that confer an unfair advantage, but it does not specifically characterize ordinary VPN use as cheating. Do not treat that update as permission to use a VPN or as proof that VPN use is a bannable offense. Lost Ark news and updates
Can a VPN let you play from an unsupported country?
There is no basis to promise that it will. Lost Ark Support attributes the closed-region error to playing from an unsupported region and advises players to verify regional support and troubleshoot the game or Steam installation. A VPN endpoint in a supported country does not establish that the account or player is eligible to access that region. Lost Ark Support

Will a VPN lower Lost Ark ping?
Not predictably. A VPN adds a routing step and can increase latency. It may sometimes improve stability if it avoids a congested or poor route, but providers’ general gaming guidance is not a Lost Ark-specific performance test. ExpressVPN says VPN routing can add latency or sometimes improve stability; NordVPN says lower ping is uncommon and depends on routing conditions. ExpressVPN gaming guidance NordVPN gaming guidance
Judge a route by measured ping and packet loss from your location to the actual Lost Ark region, across repeat sessions—not by “no lag” marketing. A nearby VPN endpoint may be a sensible candidate to test, but proximity alone does not guarantee a better route.

Will a VPN let you play with friends on another region?
No. A VPN endpoint does not switch a character’s world or guarantee entry to another regional server group. Lost Ark distinguishes activities that are world-specific from features that work across worlds within a region; raids, daily PvE, and the Auction House are among the activities identified as operating across worlds in a region. Check the game’s current region and world details before choosing where to play. Lost Ark region and world information

| Option | What the provider says | What matters for Lost Ark |
|---|---|---|
| Proton VPN Free | Proton says the free tier has no data limit. Its support page says the app selects a default free server; changing servers selects another free server at random and is subject to a cooldown. Proton free-plan support | Useful only if you can accept limited endpoint choice. The free tier’s routing and Lost Ark compatibility are not established. |
| Proton VPN Plus | Proton describes paid access to a wider server network and markets gaming use. Proton gaming information | Broader endpoint choice may be worth comparing, but no Lost Ark benchmark or policy clearance is established. |
| Windscribe | Windscribe markets gaming use, describes a network spanning multiple countries, and recommends choosing a server near the game server. Windscribe gaming information | Check current free and paid plan details and endpoint selection. Its latency statements are provider marketing, not Lost Ark test results. |
| ExpressVPN | Its gaming page describes a 113-country network and notes that routing can add latency or sometimes improve stability. It says support and rules vary by game. ExpressVPN gaming information | A paid comparison candidate, not evidence that Lost Ark permits or performs well through the service. |
| NordVPN | Its gaming guidance acknowledges that a VPN can slow a connection and says ping improvement is uncommon and conditional. NordVPN gaming information | Compare only with repeatable latency and stability checks; no Lost Ark-specific results are established. |

Quick Recap
How to assess a VPN without mistaking marketing for a guarantee
- Check the game’s rules and your account risk: Lost Ark Support identifies VPN use as a possible Trusted Status factor; a VPN seller cannot guarantee Trusted Status.
- Confirm the region first: Use Lost Ark’s current availability information rather than assuming a VPN makes an unsupported location eligible.
- Compare endpoint choice: For a free plan, find out whether you can select the country or server you need; Proton’s free tier, for example, randomizes subsequent server changes.
- Measure the route: Compare ping, packet loss, and stability from your own connection to the actual game region over multiple sessions.
- Review the service terms: Check operating-system support, privacy information, renewal terms, and refund conditions directly with the provider before subscribing.
